Advice I’d give my 12 year old self

Tags: advice scared

You’re probably too proud to admit this. You fear the world, what people think and failure.

Thinking back to when I was 12 seems like such a long time ago but weirdly it also feels like it was yesterday.

A change in mind set from being clouded by fear, to mind focused on opportunity and enjoying life, is the main reason 12 feels like a long time ago.

It feels like yesterday as I can remember how I felt; anxious, Scared and nervous.

12’s a big year, it’s the last before becoming a teenager. It’s the year I started high school and it’s also half my current age.

Hopefully the Advice I give will benefit my 12 year old self.

Dear Joe,

I’m writing to you from 12 years in the future. You’re now 24 years old and while you’ve lived a fantastic life, I have some advice for you.

You’re curious and you ask a lot of questions, never lose this!! Ask as many questions you can think of. Those who ask questions generally find the answers.

You’re probably too proud to admit this. You fear the world, what people think and failure. You will fail time and time again but don’t let this discourage you. Keep going, keep striving for what you want.

Get out of your comfort zone it’s the fastest way to grow. The world is a brilliant place, don’t be afraid of it; explore it, enjoy it.

Don’t worry what people think, haters are gunna hate so shake it off! You should probably write a song with these lyrics 😊

Girls are coming into the equation soon. Be brave, be bold, remember they’re just as scared as you.  Talking of girls, you’ll be moved seats in Mr Tiley’s year 10 maths class, remember it and enjoy it.

Money is not the be all and end all, invest to get what you want. Use it to create memories with friends and family.

Put other people first. If you help as many people as possible get what they want, you will have everything you want.

Be careful who you take advice from, if you don’t want what they have it may be worthwhile not taking their advice. Look at your parents and ask yourself do you want their lifestyle?

If you’re worried about your health, a good cry and a check-up will prevent 6 years of being scared.

After all that, my number one piece of advice is find out who you are and what you want from life. Find your purpose, find your passion. Decide what you want and write it down. Have fun and don’t waste time doing something that doesn’t interest you.

Good luck

Joe
