The discovery is part of the first phase of the Archaeology Project in Historic Jeddah, which aims to learn more about the area's past and heritage.

- The studies done by the Jeddah Historic District Programme (JHDP) have given us more information about the mosque's long past. They have shown how it was built in a traditional way, with an open courtyard and a covered prayer hall that are indicative of old buildings in Jeddah.

- Notably, the mosque has been fixed up many times over the years. The most recent addition was made in the 14th century AH (20th century AD), and it kept the original mihrab and layout of the space for more than one thousand years.

- Some of the most important things that were found are pieces of clay tiles, plaster, and traditional tiles that were used to cover the floor of the mosque.

- The ancient water tanks found under the mosque, which date back about 800 years, are one of the most interesting finds. They show how creatively the people of historic Jeddah found ways to deal with water shortages.
