Over 14,000 violators of Residency, Work and Border Security laws arrested within a Week
According to the Ministry of the Interior in Saudi Arabia, 14,955 people were caught within one week for violations of laws regarding residency, employment, and Border Security as a result of combined field activities. Most Viewed : Is it possible to arrest an expat with expired iqama?
As per the Ministry, the following were the outcomes of the nationwide campaigns to identify and penalize those who violated the Kingdom's regulations regarding residency, employment, and Border security from 08/12/1445 AH (22nd February 2024) to 08/18/1445 AH (28th February 2024).
1. A total of 14,955 individuals were arrested during the kingdom-wide joint security field campaigns, this figure includes 9,080 individuals who violated the residence law, 3088 individuals who violated the border security law, and 2787 individuals who violated the labor law.
2. A total of 849 individuals, including 2 percent of other nationalities, 56 percent of Ethiopians, and 42 percent of Yemenis, were captured for attempting to cross the border into the Kingdom. 3. Six individuals were arrested for their roles in transportation, hiding, employing, and covering up for individuals who violated rules regarding residence, employment, and border security.
4. The overall number of expats now being subject to processes for regulation implementation has reached 57,787. Of this figure, 53,304 are men and 4,483 are women.
5. About 51,401 expats were sent to their respective diplomatic embassies to get travel documents, 1,763 were told to finalize their trip arrangements, and 10,256 were sent back home. Read : Download digital iqama online
- Anyone who helps border security law violators to enter into the Kingdom, transfers them within it, gives them shelter, or gives them any service or assistance in any way faces seizures, a fine of up to one million riyals, and a maximum prison sentence of fifteen years, according to the Saudi Ministry of Interior. In addition to defaming him, their utilized vehicle for transportation and housing for accommodation will be seized.
- While encouraging the public to report any cases of violation to the following numbers 999 and 996 throughout the Kingdom, and to dial 911 in the Makkah Al-Mukarramah, Riyadh, and Al-Sharqiya regions, the Ministry highlighted that this is a serious crime that calls for arrest and goes against honor and trust.
