Riyadh's King Salman Park opens Middle East's longest Tunnel

King Salman Bin Abdulaziz and the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman have declared their major reconstruction efforts on March 19, 2019, and this tunnel is a crucial component of their efforts. It is the first tunnel to be built since the King Salman Park project began in the third quarter of 2021.

- One of the longest road tunnels in the Middle East, the Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq Road stretches 2,430 meters from north to south under the vast King Salman Park. The ambitious infrastructure development, which includes the construction of additional tunnels on Al-Oruba Road, is evident in its completion. The current 840-meter tunnel along Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq Road will be connected to a new 1,590-meter tunnel, establishing a unified channel that will simplify vehicle traffic.

- With an emergency lane, three lanes in each direction, and modern facilities traffic management and safety systems (including evacuation routes and emergency services) in place, the tunnel is set to open to vehicles on Thursday, February 29, 2024. - Salmani architecture served as an inspiration for the Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq Road Tunnel's design. The interior designs reflect the city's rock formations, blending nicely with Riyadh's natural and geological beauty.
