They say entrepreneurship is all about grabbing the opportunities that come your way with both hands and realize the dream you have so passionately been dreaming. And for Sarsav Industrial Corporation the year 1984 brought to fore a unique opportunity for Amit Kapoor and his family to realize their dream.

The electrification drive had then taken India and the neighboring countries by storm and there was a dearth of wire and cable machinery manufacturers. Amit did an internal survey and the results were much to his liking – he found that it was the best time to export machines that can produce wires and cables.

And so his journey started!

As is with any Business, the first few steps were the most challenging. Foraying into an unknown world with just a fire in the belly and passion in the heart can sometimes be anguishing and give a heartache. “The early days are always difficult for any business and the toughest part was to convince client that they can get good quality machines in India,” Amit says.
“There were times when we doubted our decision to start this business. But in spite of the hardships, we kept trying and did not lose the courage. Our focus was to achieve success and we continued.”

Digital India – the changing face of doing business

Amit believes that a lot has changed since the eighties on how one does business. For exporters particularly, he admits that B2B platforms have given businesses like his a fighting chance in a world where competitors are fighting for space and a piece of the pie. “The experience has been good. On B2B platforms the exposure to the world is very wide. The reach to buyers is very easy and fast. We surely get good effective enquires from our online B2B partners.”

GST Regime – the way forward!

Since the introduction of GST regime, the media has been flooded with opinions from both sides of the debate. But for Amit, he has reasons to believe that the “GST regime did not adversely affected our business. We rather, feel ease of doing business with only one tax instead of various taxes. The Wires & Cables Sector is doing very well these days and we see a bright future for the industry.“

Message to New Entrepreneurs

Having earned a named in the industry with his passion and hard work, Amit feels it’s now time to pass on his experiences to newbie entrepreneurs. “My message to new entrepreneurs is that thorough research and survey of a new business is very important. Nowadays lot of information is available on internet but ground realities should also to be examined. And once you make up your mind, stick to it. Don’t lose focus. Carry on with the hard work and have faith in yourself.”

Today in 2019 India is all set to achieve 100 percent household electrification and is now aiming at the next goal to achieve round the clock power supply to all households. It’s definitely heartening to know that Sarsav Industrial Corporation actually played a role in this drive. Today Amit Kapoor is a proud man. He sees the untiring effort of himself and his entire staff bearing fruit to the seed he had sowed decades back.
