For the last 3+ years I have been working in the cell phone Repair field as well as making t-shirts and vinyl Decals. I still shave my head, I just don’t take time to document it much.

What have I been doing?

I lost my job with US Steel and, after what felt like hundreds of applications and a few interviews with no joy, I started working solely for myself.

Web Design

I have owned MJF Designs since the late 1990’s so it gave me the opportunity to get back into web design full time.

I worked with some old clients and some new ones. Some of my work was done as a ghost coder without the privilege of sharing it as my own. While that works for some, it’s not my thing.

Cellphone Repair

Shortly before getting laid off, I had purchased a broken iPhone from a coworker. It had some issues, but with a little Google magic, I found it was pretty easily repaired.

I had already braved screen replacements after crushing the front glass of my iPhone 3G (twice.)

I started buying broken devices from Craigslist and the local BST sites on Facebook and quickly learned what questions to ask and how to keep from getting burned by locked devices etc.

So now I own The Bald Fat Guy Screen Repair and repair most of the common issues.

Vinyl Decals & Heat Press Vinyl T-Shirts

My original shop location was next door to a gun shop. I quickly became friends with the gentlemen who own the shop and found that they needed someone to make their decals.

I had worked with a longtime friend who had a vinyl shop for a while so I bought the equipment and got started.

Soon after, they asked if I wanted to make their t-shirts. One heat press later, I’ve added apparel and decals to MJF Designs’ list of services.

So, as you can see, I’ve been quite busy and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down.
