The Most Common Car Problems & Their Solutions

Having a car on the road is mostly a joy, but that is not to say that it’s all a walk in the park. If you are like the vast majority of motorists, you are keen to keep your car as healthy as possible for as long as possible. Otherwise, you might find that you soon have to visit a mechanic – and that can be both expensive and a huge use of your time. To avoid such things, it is a good idea to keep on top of your car’s health. If you are able to spot potential problems before they become really bad, then there is a good chance you can do something about them early on. That is likely to save you time, money and a whole load of stress. With that in mind, let’s take a look at some of the most common problems you can have with your car. We will also have a brief look at some simple solutions and preventative measures for each.

Common Car Problems

Flat Battery

This is something which everyone has experienced at one point or another. Possibly the worst thing about this is just how frustrating it is. More often than not, a flat battery is the result of a silly mistake on the driver’s part. If this has ever happened to you, then you know what we mean. The best way to avoid a flat battery is, of course, the preventative way. That is: try your best to remember to turn all of the lights off when you leave the car. Usually, it takes leaving them on overnight to cause a problem. However, it is worth getting into the habit of just turning them off every time you leave the car, just to be safe.

Faulty Exhaust

The easiest way to tell if there is something wrong with your exhaust is by smell. More often than not, you will notice a bad smell before you even feel or see anything wrong with your car. When an exhaust is faulty, it will tend to give off a pretty awful stench. If you then also start to notice a lot of smoke emanating from it, you know you are in trouble. Often, the cause of exhaust trouble is rust. However, even this can be enough to warrant a vehicle exhaust removal and replacement. This is one of those problems which you simply cannot ignore for long.

Damaged Tyres

The tyres are an integral part of any vehicle. After all, they are the only part of the car that actually has any contact with the road. To that end, be sure to stay on top of your tyres’ health. If something goes wrong here, it can cause some serious problems, some of which might be deadly. If you find that you have damaged tyres, the best solution is to change the tyre out for a spare. That’s why it is always a good idea to carry a spare. If you haven’t got one, then you might have to call someone out to help you.
