What Can We Expect From The Innokin Z Pod Nano?

A very small form factor device…in fact one of the smallest pod kits on the market to date!

And this one is marketed squarely at Mouth To Lung vapers (MTL). We tell you what this term means in our Guide To Vape Styles!

Included in the kit are 0.8ohm and 1.0ohm pods. 1.2ohm pods are also available separately if you prefer an even tighter mouth to lung draw.

The airflow inlet is actually located on the base of the pod itself and you can adjust the airflow between two options.

The pods feature a side filling system, with a side filling tab covering the filling port. They have been designed so that it is easy to see the e-liquid level.

Wattage can be adjusted from 6 to 15 watts and an intuitive OLED screen is present on the device.

You simply inhale on the mouthpiece to activate it, making for effortless operation.

A 700mAh battery is built into the device, which is rechargeable via USB-C.

You can pick from six different colour options, with Ice Blue, Black, Klein Blue, Light Yellow, Pink and Red available.

Many thanks to Innokin for sending the Z Pod Nano in for review, as always my views are my own.

Design & Build Quality

Now this really is a diddy little pod system, it measures in at a tiny 26.5mm x 21.5mm x 82.25mm and weighs only 45.3g.

It gets absolutely swallowed up in my hand and is absolutely one of the smallest pod systems that I have ever had my hands on!

It features an Aluminium and Polycarbonate construction and despite its small stature it actually feels pretty solid and robust.

The pod features a 2ml capacity and has a drip tip built into it, with a fixed coil inside.

There is a filling port located on the pod and a dual airflow selector on the base. These pods connect magnetically to the Z Pod Nano device and a transparent viewing window allows you to clearly see how much e-liquid you have left in the tank.

On the front of the device is the OLED screen, which displays the battery level, output wattage and a puff timer. The screen is clear and easy to read – even in direct sunlight!

I do really like the look of this kit. It is great to hold in the hand and it’s tiny enough that you could chuck it in your pocket and not even realise it’s there. In fact you could chuck a couple of these in your pocket and not even know they are there!

Quick Start Guide

Filling The Pod

First things first, you will need to fill up the pod. And with the design of the Z Pod Nano, you don’t even need to fully remove the pod from the device.

Simply slide off the housing to reveal the fill port on the front on the pod, pull the silicone cover to one side and fill up through the filling port.

If you are filling up a fresh pod for the first time, it is recommended to leave it for five minutes before taking a puff on the device to allow the e-liquid to fully saturate the cotton and reduce the risk of dry hits.

Operation

It has a ‘power button’, however this is a draw activated device, so you simply take a draw on it to fire.

  • Turn device on/off: click the power button three times in two seconds.
  • Adjust output: Clicking the power button twice continuously will allow you to adjust the output wattage from 6 to 15W in 0.5W increments. You can either leave it for five seconds or take a puff to lock in the selected wattage setting.

Safety protections are built into the Z Pod Nano, with low battery, no load/ high resistance, short circuit, auto-shut off and overheating protections built in.

Airflow Adjustment

There is a fixed airflow hole at the base of the pod and the airflow switch will reveal a second airflow hole when you have it open.

So, you have got the option of a tight mouth to lung draw with both airflow holes open and an even tighter one with the second airflow hole closed down!

Charging

A USB-C port is present on the device and a USB-C cable is also handily included in the box.

Simply plug the cable into the Z Pod Nano and it will charge the 700mAh battery up quickly with up to a 1A charging output. As long as you have plugged the charging cable into a suitable power source!

How Does The Innokin Z Pod Nano Perform?

I have actually had this kit in my possession for the past month, which has given me plenty of time to really put it through its paces!

You get two Z Pod Nano pods included with the kit, featuring resistances of 0.8ohm and 1.2ohm.

The 0.8ohm pod is the one that comes pre-installed with the kit and Innokin recommend that this is used in the 12-14W range. Though you won’t have any trouble if you push this up to the 15W maximum output of the Z Pod Nano.

The 1.2ohm pod comes spare in the kit and is recommended for use in the 9-12W range.

For me personally, the 0.8ohm pod was my preferred one.

I felt that the flavour was more pronounced with this particular pod when compared to the 1.2ohm one. I could vape this quite happily on either airflow setting. With the 1.2ohm pod, I needed the second airflow hole closed off to really get anything out of it.

Lifespan Of Pods

Lifespan of the pods is very good indeed, I got two weeks out of the 0.8ohm pod before I needed to replace it. It handles 50/50 and 60/40 VG/PG e-liquid really well, making it a great option for nicotine salt based e-liquids.

You do need to check the pods for condensation build up from time to time and give it a wipe, as I did notice a fair bit of condensation every few days. I didn’t get any issues with spitting or gurgling from the pods, just a consistent vape each time.

The built in 700mAh battery couldn’t quite get me through a full days’ worth of vaping, but with a device this small I wouldn’t expect it to be packing a massive battery if I’m honest, it would likely be a bit of a logistical nightmare trying to fit a larger one in!

Pros

  • Tiny, discreet little device
  • Great kit for mouth to lung vapers
  • Useful for beginners and experienced vapers alike
  • Easy to use
  • Smooth mouth to lung draw
  • Good flavour
  • Pods last a long time
  • Variable wattage and voltage

Cons

  • Will be a touch underpowered for some users
  • Not a device for you if you have big hands!
  • Not for restricted direct lung vapers
  • Battery life is a little on the short side
  • Bit of a weak vape from the 1.2ohm pod

Final Verdict

A funky looking compact little kit, that punches well above its weight in the flavour department! The six colour options are great too.

This will please mouth to lung vapers, as it offers a very tasty and smooth mouth to lung vape especially when using the 0.8ohm pod. Having variable wattage and a couple of airflow options, is a bonus on a device this small!

As expected with an Innokin product, you get long lifespan from the pods and the build quality of the device itself is pretty robust. This kit definitely handles day to day use very well indeed, and I’m yet to pick up any scratches on the finish.

If you are in the market for a compact little mouth to lung pod system then you really can’t go wrong with this one. It is packed with all the features that you need and performs really well for its size too.

Thanks go to Innokin for sending the Z Pod Nano in for review, this is available to purchase now.
