GeekVape Obelisk 60 Review – A Sexy Looking Sub Ohm Pod Kit

The Geekvape Obelisk 60 Pod Kit review and yeah it’s yet another quick release in the series of vape kits carrying the same name.

So far this year we’ve had the Geekvape Obelisk Z – the Obelisk 120 FC and the dual battery Obelisk 200.

This particular company does like to release plenty of vape mods and pod kits in the same range that’s for sure.

Speaking of same range, same name devices, I’ve lost count at the amount of the hugely popular GeekVape Legend series have been released…

I guess the old adage if it ain’t broke don’t fix it comes to mind…

What Can We Expect From the GeekVape Obelisk 60 Pod Kit?

I’m going to say it again – boring ain’t I lol…

It’s a pod kit so I want to see ease of use – airflow control option – battery longevity and above all great flavour.

The GeekVape Obelisk 60 is a sub ohm pod kit so will need high VG vape juice – GeekVape says 70/30 PG/VG ratio is best.

As the name suggests this one maxes out at 60w and has a large 2200mAH internal battery.

As you’ll see, there’s more vape modes and options to this pod kit than many on the market, meaning both newbie cloud chasers and established vapers are covered.

OK, on with the review and for the record this was sent to me direct from Vape Club – thank you – and as always my thoughts and opinions are not swayed by freebies.

BTW, an obelisk is the name given to the shape of a four sided tapered stone column…so let’s see how this one shapes up.

There’s two coils in the box, both are mesh and from the GeekVape P series.

The pods are 2ml here in the TPD ruled UK and obviously the coils can be swapped out.

GeekVape Obleisk 60 Quick Start Guide

Before we go any further, let’s get this little, yet powerful, vape kit up and running.

  • Pull pod off the battery
  • Fill by opening the stopper
  • x3 clicks of the fire button to enter mode select

It’s all very straightforward and anyone that’s used a GeekVape device will pick it up instinctively.

Design and Build Quality

The GeekVape Obelisk 60 kind of reminds me of the old school AIO style device such as the OBS Alter or the Kangertech Cupti that I reviewed way back in the day in 2016!

However, rather than those squared off design lines, the GeekVape Obleisk 60 has more of a curved look, but still keeps the almost centred mouthpiece.

Those curves means it very comfortable in the hand and really does look a bit sexy.

As you can see, I received the black version and that toughened plastic alongside the mirrored sides means it really is a bit of a fingerprint magnet.

Logos are left to the minimum giving it a clean look [apart from juice marks and fingerprints!].

Build wise and all the moving parts work well and those pod magnets are extremely strong – it does take an effort to pull it off, and it snaps into place with quite the force.

The GeekVape Obleisk 60 pod kit is currently available in: Black – Gun Metal – Silver and Green and Stainless Steel and Blue.

How Does the GeekVape Obelisk 60 Perform?

It’s been a while since I used a GeekVape stock coil or kit, so I was interested to see how this little set-up vaped.

As I’ve already stated, setting it up and scrolling through the menu is a cinch so let’s look at the 2 coils included in the box.

Saying that, given it’s a 2ml capacity, filling can be a little tricky as there isn’t much room in there…no biggie in the scheme of things.

GeekVape says the Obelisk 60 pod kit is designed for high VG vape juice, so I used an old favourite of mine Wick Liquor Contra.

Please note given these are sub ohm coils you really do need to let that e-liquid soak right into the cotton known as ‘priming your coil‘ – otherwise your coil may burn out after the first hit.

BTW, the little spanner style tool included in the box is used to prise out the coils. They are in there tight so you may need it…I didn’t as I obviously has power…ahem

GeekVape Obleisk 60 – P.04 Coil 0.4 Ohm (50-60W)

This coil is pre-installed.

Wow and a BIG surprise at just how flavourful this was!

I’m getting all of those sharp tangy notes from the vape juice I know extremely well.

It’s a warm vape that fills the mouth with vapour and yeah those clouds are crazy!

Up at the max of 60w and things got a little warmer – especially when chain vaping [ouch!] – and yup the flavour ramped up a little.

Impressive…

GeekVape Obleisk 60 – Geekvape P.05 Coil 0.5 Ohm (40-50W)

The tiniest and I mean tiniest dip in flavour at 40w but still really impressive.

This one is still picking out those sweet and sour fruit notes but maybe a little more mixed if that makes sense.

Up at 50w and yeah things improved again.

Not as warm, but still a thick mouthful of vapour with clouds for days.

GeekVape Obleisk 60 Airflow

With the AFC turned almost shut as you can expect this is an extremely tight and hotter side of warm vape.

It really is a restricted direct to lung hit and yup, that flavour really pops.

If 10 is tight this ones a 9+ but not quite an MTL vape.

Wide open and 10 being extremely airy, the GeekVape Obelisk 60 pod kit is again in the late 8’s to early 9’s – it’s pleasantly airy!

Truth is I only found the slightest and I mean slightest dip in flavour too – though the vapour calmed down a bit.

Pros

  • Dead simple to use
  • Stylish design
  • Just enough menu options
  • Airflow Control
  • Great flavour off both coils
  • Amazing vapour
  • Decent battery longevity
  • Leak free – so far!
  • Coil removal tool handy!

Cons

  • Fingerprint magnet! [the black version]

Final Review Verdict

Another day and another pod kit, however hang on a mo’ – this one is very good indeed.

The flavour off both those coils really has impressed me, and if clouds are your thing – this one is mental!

It looks good too and feels extremely comfortable in the hand, though my touch of OCD means I’m polishing fingerprints and juice marks off it all the time.

I guess it’s nearest market rival is my go to Aspire Nautilus Prime X, it is a little heavier, but about the same size.

I don’t use the sub ohm BP coil option on that one, only the MTL nautilus coils, but can say as a sub ohm pod kit the GeekVape edges those BP coils in the flavour stakes.

If you’re looking for a small, flavoursome, cloudy sub ohm pod kit, the GeekVape Obelisk 60 should be at the top of your wish list.

It looks good – vapes well and the flavour is very good indeed, and great as a back up or the new vapers first go at sub ohm vaping.

Should they bring out a waterproof, shockproof and dustproof version I’ll be adding it to rucksack for blowing a few clouds whilst hiking that’s for sure…

Right now it’s sat on my desk and another pod kit I won’t be giving away down the pub…such a selfish sod lol.

So…

Have you used this one?

How do you find the flavour?

Is it an Obelisk too many ha!
