WHO Slams Vaping As Harmful In Latest Anti-Vape Report

The WHO is at it again as a new report slams Vaping as harmful and the gateway to kids becoming hooked on smoking.

The report is filled with the usual inaccuracies and downright lies about vaping, and calls for much tighter controls on all things vape in countries where e-cigarettes are not already banned.

As you can imagine, the lies perpetuated by the World Health Organization report has angered vape advocates from across the globe and we’ll look at the reactions in a moment.

Funded by anti-vaping czar little Mike ‘Moneybags‘ Bloomberg, the report is titled: WHO reports progress in the fight against tobacco epidemic – I won’t give them our link juice so please feel free to Google it.

In a nutshell, the so called ‘guardians‘ of world health say:

The aerosols from e-cigarettes contain toxic substances that can cause:

  • cancer
  • Anatomical heart cardiovascular diseases
  • Lungs lung disorders
  • Brain damage to children’s brain development

It’s all deeply flawed science – or BS as I call it – and each of those key points has been disproven time and time again.

However, as the WHO gears up for the COP9 event in November, where it plans to call for a global ban on vaping, this report shows without doubt the unelected mandarins have a very different agenda than saving smokers lives.

The WHO says:

For the first time, the 2021 report presents new data on electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems, such as ‘e-cigarettes’.

These products are often marketed to children and adolescents by the tobacco and related industries that manufacture them, using thousands of appealing flavours and misleading claims about the products..

WHO is concerned that children who use these products are up to three times more likely to use tobacco products in the future.

The Organization recommends governments to implement regulations to stop non-smokers from starting to use them, to prevent renormalization of smoking in the community, and to protect future generations..

The ‘Organization…‘ sounds very mafia lol…

However, it’s an interesting use of words at the end that got my nose twitching.

The WHO hasn’t gone ‘all in‘ calling for a total ban – instead it’s urging governments in countries where vaping isn’t banned, to bring in tough legislation to stop none smokers and kids from taking the habit up.

Now to me that’s curious…

For a start the number of never smokers that vape is so low it can barely be recorded.

Add to that the number of kids vaping is ever decreasing – especially here in the UK as I reported in Sunday’s Vape News.

Anyway, however the WHO phrases it – they’re still ignorant and dangerous idiots to even consider a ban or tight regulations on a 95%+ safer alternative to lit tobacco!

WHO Slams Vaping As Harmful – The Lies Continue

Moneybags Mike was positively crowing over the dangerously inaccurate report he’d paid for saying:

More than 1 billion people around the world still smoke.

And as cigarette sales have fallen, tobacco companies have been aggressively marketing new products – like e-cigarettes and heated-tobacco products – and lobbied governments to limit their regulation.

Their goal is simple: to hook another generation on nicotine.

We can’t let that happen.

Says the man allegedly part funding a new type of nicotine delivery system…

Have you heard of the Hale?

Please read my take on that little nugget: Bloomberg Flavour Ban Plan – A Conflict Of Interest?

And hey, here’s a thought, maybe lit tobacco sales have fallen because despite the media and money driven myths, people are thinking for themselves, weighing up the evidence and making a choice to opt for safer nicotine delivery systems.

Don’t forget, nicotine isn’t carcinogenic – it’s the tar and other shite in lit tobacco smoke that kills over 8 million smokers each year…

And of course, nicotine is VERY similar to caffeine and you don’t see Parents Against Starbucks groups popping up anywhere…but I digress.

Although I have to say, if patches and gums are classed as good nicotine – what’s the bloody difference?

Anyway…

WHO Slams Vaping As Harmful Leaving Smokers and Vaper Left To Die

Dr Rüdiger Krech, Director of the Health Promotion Department at WHO, continued the attack on all things vape saying:

These products are hugely diverse and are evolving rapidly.

Some are modifiable by the user so that nicotine concentration and risk levels are difficult to regulate.

Others are marketed as ‘nicotine-free’ but, when tested, are often found to contain the addictive ingredient.

Distinguishing the nicotine-containing products from the non-nicotine, or even from some tobacco-containing products, can be almost impossible.

This is just one way the industry subverts and undermines tobacco control measures.

*sighs and bangs head on desk*

Just imagine if vaping was banned globally and the 50 or so million of us had to turn to the black market and all the dangers that would bring.

Even worse, imagine the numbers of vapers returning to smoking and to put it crudely, smoked themselves to death.

Doesn’t bear thinking about, but the WHO obviously has and couldn’t give a shit as long as benefactors like Bloomberg continue pouring millions of dollars into the WHO’s trough.

Someone has to pay for all those first class 5 star junkets they seem to love going on…

WHO director-general Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus – who’s not a medical doctor lol, said:

Electronic nicotine delivery systems are harmful, and must be better regulated.

Where they are not banned, governments should adopt appropriate policies to protect their populations from the harms of electronic nicotine delivery systems, and to prevent their uptake by children, adolescents and other vulnerable groups.

No one has EVER said vaping is not without some risk – but weigh the evidence – study the data from real world cases – and learned medical bodies with global respect say it’s at least 95% safer than smoking

And for FFS – you can’t get more ‘vulnerable‘ to death and life changing illnesses than by smoking…

Pro Vaping Advocates Respond To Damming Report

As I said earlier, pro-vaping advocates and have been quick to respond to yet another WHO slams vaping as harmful ‘report’.

Those condemning yet another pile of crap from the WHO includes real medical experts, the vaping industry and advocates.

Prof John Britton

Professor John Britton, emeritus Professor of Epidemiology at University of Nottingham, said:

This report demonstrates that, sadly, the WHO still doesn’t understand the fundamental difference between addiction to tobacco smoking, which kills millions of people every year, and addiction to nicotine, which doesn’t.

The WHO is also evidently still content with the hypocrisy of adopting a position which recommends the use of medicinal nicotine products to treat addiction to smoking, but advocates prohibition of consumer nicotine products which do the same thing, but better.

The WHO is right that non-smokers, especially children, should be discouraged from using any nicotine product.

But for the more than one billion tobacco smokers in the world, electronic nicotine delivery systems are part of the solution, not the problem.

As always, the professor is the voice of reason and calm in a swirling sea of BS…

John Dunne Director General at UKVIA

The UK Vaping Industry Association condemns the WHO report, and director general John Dunne, as he always does, shot straight from the hip:

The WHO has a long-standing anti-vaping stance and this latest attack on a sector that is literally saving millions of lives worldwide flies in the face of scientific evidence, common sense and harm reduction.

The fundamental difference between the UK and the WHO is that the UK has taken a science and evidence-led approach towards vaping.

And the evidence clearly shows the enormous role vaping products play in helping smokers to quit and stay quit.

The WHO, on the other hand, has chosen to do the prohibition route, effectively calling for a ‘ban on everything’ except combustible tobacco products – does that sound like an organisation trying to reduce smoking?

We know we are on the right side of the argument, prioritising as we do, health protection and harm reduction.

The WHO, however, seems hell-bent on preventing smokers’ access to the one quit method proven to not only help smokers quit cigarettes, but to do so long term.

Absolutely.

Michael Landl, Director of the World Vapers’ Alliance (WVA), said:

Besides being riddled with biased anti-vaping scaremongering and false claims, the entire direction of travel set out in the latest WHO report is nonsensical.

Rather than focus on the all-important goal of beating smoking, the WHO is turning its guns on vaping, the most powerful smoking cessation tool on the planet.

They clearly find it more important to fall into line with the narrow-minded ‘quit or die’ approach trumpeted by the WHO’s billionaire sponsors, like Mike Bloomberg.

The reality is that if the world follows the WHO’s lead, fewer smokers will quit and more will die as a consequence.

Wise words indeed.

David Jones MP, who sits on the UK’s All Party Parliamentary Group for Smoking and Health, was equally perplexed at the WHO report slamming vaping as harmful saying:

Our advice remains that people who smoke are better to switch completely to vaping.

That opinion, however, is not shared by the WHO, which has long pursued an almost pathological campaign against e-cigarettes.

The UK Government’s health promotion body, Public Health England (PHE), says that: ‘Vaping is not risk free but is far less harmful than smoking’.

Using reduced-risk products such as vapes or heat-not-burn devices is demonstrably safer than smoking cigarettes.

There are no serious debates to be had here.

PHE is very clear about it: such products are around 95 percent safer than combustible tobacco.

The WHO is simply wrong.

The UK should reject its calls and continue to develop its own science-based guidelines, helping people quit the habit that claims so many lives.

Isn’t it refreshing to have UK politicians backing vaping!

Final Thoughts

Yet again the WHO slams vaping as harmful in a report that belongs in the scientific and health stone age.

They really are better suited to carving their so called ‘reports and studies‘ on stone tablets whilst howling at the moon – that’s how far away from modern science these dangerous buffoons are.

Tobacco harm reduction has long since left the cave and actually dumped the fire and swapped it for safer none combustibles.

I’ve got no idea how long it will take for the WHO to catch up with the real facts and science around all things vape – if they ever will.

They are quite simply led by money and not the world’s health.

Trust me, if Bloomberg and his kind were pro-vaping so would the WHO – it’s that blatantly obvious it hurts my old brain.

Sadly and whilst these blind to science benefactors continue to fill the trough, the WHO won’t be doing a 180 anytime soon.

And that, I’m afraid, will simply sentence billions of smokers and possibly vapers, to a slow agonizing death or serious illness.

As I’ve said before, shame on them and they really do have blood on their collective greedy money grabbing hands.

Absolute bastards…all of them.
