Vaporesso Luxe Q Pod Kit Review – None Replaceable Coils!

The Vaporesso Luxe Q is the latest pod system from Vaporessos Luxe Range.

Up until now the Luxe range consisted of the Luxe PM40 , Luxe II Kit and Luxe Nano Kit.

I was fortunate enough to review the Luxe PM40 for EcigClick and I have that a fairly impressive 8.7 out of 10. Hopefully the Luxe Q can pull in just as many points, I’ve heard a lot of good things about it.

Vaporesso was founded in 2015 by it’s parent company Smoore, which was founded in 2009.

Since 2015, Vaporesso has become a much loved brand. Its catalogue currently consists of 37 kits, 15 Tanks (excluding pods), 16 Mods and 7 coil ranges, most of which are very popular.

If you’re looking for great Vaporesso products outside of the Luxe range, you don’t have to look too hard.

Some of their most popular devices include:

  • Gen Kits (Gen, Gen S, Gen , Gen Nano
  • Swag Kits (Swag, Swag II, Swag PX80)
  • Target Kits (Target Mini, Target Mini II, Target PM80 – & SE, Target PM30)

What To Expect From The Vaporesso Luxe Q

When I heard Vaporesso was launching the Luxe Q, I took a look and was super surprised to noticed that it’s pods don’t have replaceable coils.

Although that does have benefits for some users it was a huge surprise to me.

Vaporesso has currently (at the time of writing) got 2 different pods for the systems (1.2ohms and 0.8ohms) and they both have a top fill system, which is always good for anti leaking.

Speaking of leaking, the pods also have “SSS Leak-resistant technology”.

It has adjustable airflow, a 1,000mAh battery with a 1hour charge time thought it’s USB-C port and battery level indicator.

To make it super simple to use the Luxe Q is only draw activated, meaning there are no buttons to worry about.

As I said in the introduction, I have heard some amazing things about the Luxe Q.

So I reckon it’s time I have my say…

Design & Build Quality

The Vaporesso Luxe Q is available in 7 different colours, as you have seen I’m using the green one.

Vaporesso Luxe Q Battery Section

The first thing that comes to mind when looking at the battery section of the Luxe Q is how small it is!

Its nearly small enough to be a cig-a-like device. It measures at just 75mm tall, 26mm wide and a mini 16mm thin.

Vaporesso doesn’t mention what material is used but I’m fairly sure it’s a had plastic.

I read somewhere that leather is involved, which is NOT true. The front and back patches are made out of plastic, with that soft grip rubbery coating that is used on the Gen devices.

The shiny silver frame has a metal like coating but I’m still convinced that it is plastic.

Don’t let that give you the impression it’s not durable though, because it is.

The device feels pretty solid and I can’t see any would-be weak spots.

Vaporesso Luxe Q Battery Indicator

The indicator is located on the front of the device behind a little hole and it’s surprisingly bright.

It indicates the battery level when you add a pod, remove a pod and while you’re taking a puff, the colour of the light corresponds to the battery level as follows:

  • Green = 70-100%
  • Blue = 30-70%
  • Red = less than 30%

Whilst charging, the green light will show when the battery is fully charged.

It also has a list of error warnings that you can find in the ‘Using The Vaporesso Luxe Q’ Section down below.

Vaporesso Luxe Q – Pod Connection & Adjustable Airflow

The pod is held in by 2 notches, one on the front and one on the back.

Usually that puts me straight off of a device, but because the pods are essentially disposable (you can’t change the coil), I don’t suppose it will make that much of a difference.

That being said I can’t help wonder how much the port will ware in a year of use.

And to be honest, although I haven’t had a pod fall out on its own, they don’t hold in very tightly.

The pod port is the key to the airflow. You may have noticed that there is only one airflow hole on the outside of the mod, this is because rotating the pod 180 degrees will changes the airflow setting.

To the best of my knowledge there isn’t any magnet in the connection, if there is, it’s useless.

Vaporesso Luxe Q Pods

There are currently 2 pods available for the Luxe Q, a 0.8ohm pod and a 1.2ohm pod; both of which come with the kits.

The pods come with different colour bases inside, the 0.8ohm pod is red and the 1.2ohm is black.

That’s an excellent idea making it super easy to see which coil is what.

Never fear, if you forget what colour represents what resistance, it tells you on the bottom of the pod, which is nice and easy to see.

The pods have a little easy grip area on the sides of the pod in case you have slippy fingers.

A design that Vaporesso have kept from the Luxe pm40, is the filling port. The filling port on the Luxe Q is hidden under the mouth piece.

Again this is an idea that I am usually a bit apprehensive about, but because it isn’t for the long term, I think it’s a great idea. Top fills are always a good way to prevent potential leakage, for obvious reasons.

To fill it up, you just crack the mouth piece off, towards the back or front which exposes the fill hole and anti vacuum hole, for easy filling. Inside the mouth piece is 2 round rubber pads to prevent leakage from out of those holes.

The mouth piece is thin measuring at 4.5 x 20mm, it fits the mouth nicely.

Vaporesso Luxe Q Quick Start Guide

When you first receive the system the pod that is already inserted into the device, will have a sticker on the bottom. Remove the pod and replace the sticker.

The device is draw activation only, so once you have remove the sticker and followed the ‘Filling’ steps below, you are good to go, just start sucking on the mouth piece to start vaping.

Make sure you allow 3-5minutes before you do though! Otherwise you will get a horrible burning taste and the pod will now be no good.

As stated above, if you wish to change the airflow, remove the pod, rotate it 180degrees and then reinsert the pod.

Filling The Luxe Q Pod

  • With the pod in the device, push the black mouth piece towards the back or front of the device to remove it
  • There is 3 holes, a small one to one side, a big one in the middle, a big one on the other side, fill the pod though the big hole towards the side
  • Once the pod is full, reapply the mouth piece by pushing it down on to the pod.
  • Allow 3-5 minutes for the e-liquid to soak into the coil

Once the pod starts to taste burnt, dispose of the pod, and start to use a new one.

What The Indicator Tells you – Errors

The battery level indicators are stated above (Green = 70-100%, Blue = 30-70%, Red = less than 30%). If there is a problem with your device or coil, it will tell you by a sequence of flashes as so:

  • Red light 5 times = Short Circuit, No Load or low resistance – Try Changing the pod
  • Red light 3 times = Low Voltage or Over Distcharge
  • Red light then green light = Over Charging
  • Battery Level Colour 3 times = Over Time cutoff
  • Battery Level Colour 5 times = Over Resistance

How Does The Vaporesso Luxe Q Perform?

1.2Ω MESH Luxe Q Pod

The 1.2ohm pod was the ‘pre-installed’ pod so we will go at that first. I am using the Got Salt Peachy Promise Nic-Salt, it’s a 50VG/50PG e-liquid with a peach and passion fruit profile. It’s gorgeous and prominent.

Well, it’s usually prominent. I’m sorry to all of those who have given it sparkling reviews, but I don’t agree. The flavour is there, you can taste it, but unfortunately it doesn’t give you a mind blowing flavour.

Yes I know it is only an MTL device and like I said the flavour is ample, it’s just not the best flavour production I’ve ever had from an MTL device. And that applies to both airflow options.

In regards to vapour production, it’s very much a cigarette like amount of vapour.

0.8Ω MESH Luxe Q Pod

I am using the Got Salt Peachy Promise Nic-Salt again, with this pod.

Unfortunately this coil isn’t much better. It has a nice MTL vapour production, similar to the smoke from a cigarette.

Again it isn’t flavourless, you can taste the flavour but I can’t say that it is nice and prominent because it isn’t.

Changing the airflow doesn’t make a huge difference, although the looser airflow does make the flavour a slight bit more prominent.

Pod Summary

Obviously I said both coils didn’t have the best MTL flavour but I do want to stress that they were also not flavourless.

Both pods had moments where the flavour was upped, these moments usually came after not being used for a bit, then after one puff, the flavour would lessen again.

I used both pods for a week and they were both working just fine when I finished using them.

It was a huge surprise to me that Vaporesso decided to use pods without changeable coils, after all they have some really popular coils; like the GT and GTX coils.

However fixed coil pods are quite often thought to be better for starters purely because of the simplicity of just having to fill and change the pods.

I don’t think changing a coil is too different to replacing the entire pod. It does however mean more waste plastic, which is quite a big point of interest these days.

Airflow & Draw Activation

The airflow is a nice MTL airflow.

For me, a DTL vaper, I couldn’t really tell the difference between the airflow settings to start with.

However there is a difference and the draw activation makes that obvious.

When designing a draw activation system designers have a sensitivity problem. If it’s too sensitive it could fire ‘on it’s own‘ but if it’s not sensitive enough then it’s pretty useless.

Obviously, with the airflow turned down, you need less of a draw to activate the device and with the Vaporesso Luxe Q you can take a much slower draw with the lower airflow then you can with the higher airflow.

I think the airflow settings are ideal, Catering for a restrictive and not so restrictive draw.

Vaporesso Luxe Q – Battery & Charging

Vaporesso don’t seem to have put the power information anywhere for the Luxe Q, which means I can’t do my usual hypotheticals, so I will just have to stick to my experience

The device has a 1000mAh battery, and that last me the whole day, most days.

It is also accompanied by a 1A USB-C charger, which took an hour give or take a few minutes to charge the device from flat to full.

Does the Vaporesso Luxe Q Leak?

Though out the 2 weeks that I have been using the Vaporesso Luxe Q it hasn’t leaked at all, not even a drip.

With pod systems there is usually (the vast majority of the time) some sort of noticeable leaking, even if it is just a moisture build up from the airflow, however, even now the pod port is completely dry.

This could be thanks to the SSS Leak Resistant Tech, that stands for Seal Comprehensively, Saturate Properly And Store Safely, or it could purely be down to the fact the coil is built into the pod and it is top fill.

However over saturation, poor sealing around the coil and bottom fill plugs are the 3 main reasons for a pod to leak. Irregardless of the reason the pods don’t leak, it certainly works!

Pros

  • Super Easy To Use
  • Small & Light
  • Good Vapour
  • Ok Flavour
  • Looks Good
  • Top Fill
  • No Leaking
  • 1 hour full charge

Cons

  • Coils are built in to the Pod (more plastic Waste)
  • Non-Magnetic Connection
  • Not the Best MTL Device For Flavour

Final Review Verdict

A lot of the cons on this device seem a bit contradictory to the pros.

For Example a con is that it has built in coils, but a pro is, it’s super easy to use. However not making to change coils, makes it that little bit easier to use and maintain.

All in all, this is a very simple device which is easy to use and great for reviews of all ages.

The flavour is OK, but I don’t think it is the best MTL device I have ever used for flavour.

So is this a pod kit you fancy getting your hands on are already using?

How’s the flavour for you..?
