Smoant Campbel Vape Kit Review – A Cocktail For Disaster Or Recipe For Success?

It’s Caused A Bit Of a Stir So Has The Smoant Campbel Cocktail Vape Kit Left Me Shaken Or Stirred?

The Smoant Campbel vape kit is probably one of the most innovative devices to hit the vaping market for a long time though some might say it’s just plain daft…we shall see in this review.

OK in nutshell the idea is you add your e-liquid to the normal run of the mill tank – then add your favourite drink to the larger drinks filter tank and vape away. It all sounds totally bat shit crazy – but hey we’ve been pairing food and drink for years so what not vaping?

The Campbel vape kit has caused much merriment – bemusement and other rumblings on social media, however, like all vape gear the team here on EcigClick go into every review open minded [sort of] and in this case and despite the furor around it I’ kept an open mind from the moment I opened the rather classy box.

The kits come in Champagne Gold [like what you did there] – Classic Black and the Sapphire Blue that I received.

Smoant are known for some absolutely stunning mods and kits with the standout being the awesome Cylon – the Charon and Charon Mini as well as the recently released Naboo mod.

So…have they lost their minds with this particular mod and is it a cocktail for vaping disaster or actual a rather clever and tasty treat for your taste buds?

Let’s take a closer look and how sub ohming your soda or splashing coca-cola on your coils actually works.

This was sent to me for the purpose of this review direct from Smoant – thank you – and always my thoughts and opinions are not swayed by freebies.

Key Features

You’re all probably well aware the key to this kit is the ability to pair your favourite soft drink with the e-liquid of your choice – and mix away!

As to how that works and tastes I’ll obviously get too soon.

The mod has a max output of 80w and is powered by a single 18650 battery.

There’s no menu – screen or any settings as such so in effect this acts like an unregulated device but with a whole host of inbuilt safety features.

These are: overheating protection – low voltage protection – over current protection – overtime and overcharge protections.

So in effect you fill it up – press the fire button and vape – easy.

The kit comes in three parts – the mod/battery – the regular 2ml tank and of course the drinks filter.

The tank looks like any other and the kit comes with a couple of Ni80 coils both 0.2ohms best between 30 and 60w. Incidentally you can’t use the tank on any other device alone but the tank and drinks tube can be…should you wish too!

Given its ginormous size when full assembled to avoid any kind of leaking you can either take it apart to transport around – but do close everything off by twisting the Ultem drip tip which closes the valve effectively sealing off all the liquids.

Design and Build Quality

It’s fair to say this isn’t made from premium products feeling quite tinny [Campbells’ soup tin?] and toy like in the hand. The battery door in particular feels like it’s going to last a few weeks – maybe a couple of months at best.

The paint work on mine isn’t that good either with signs of wear straight out of the box and I’m guessing any spills with the acidity of the drinks and e-liquid will only add to the imperfect patina over time.

The tube and tank comes apart well enough when you need to pull it but I found the threads to be extremely crunchy and you really need to be careful as they are prone to cross threading – even when juiced up.

Design wise well what can I say lol.

The mod itself is light as feather – indeed the whole kit is really – and very comfortable in the hand – even with the huge tank and tube. A little top heavy when filled maybe and that’s down to the kind of flanged base.

But the design is the crux of the matter for me – fully assembled it looks – well for want of a better word – ridiculous.

Indeed over on social media a few of you have commented on how it looks like a sex toy – a weapon and a walkie talkie lol.

it’s a BIG boy!

Sooo…not the greatest build quality and design wise it looks weird so how does this one vape?

How Does the Smoant Campbel Kit Perform?

You just know I was dying to call this a load of old crap and far too gimmicky to be taken seriously.

But do you know what – I bloody love it – who’da thought haha!

Yup this grumpy old sod has had a real smile on his face since the very first time I filled it up and vaped.

And trust me the fun I’ve had mixing and matching e-liquids and drinks has been great with some pretty bad and others actually a revelation lol.

I find a lot of fruit e-liquids out there far too sweet for my palate – you only have to see my e-liquid reviews to see that lol – but adding my go to soda flavours – San Pellegrino, yeah my taste-buds are on the posh side get over it ha! – the sweetness is taken over by sharp tanginess that is very very moreish.

Mixing Wick Liquor Contra – which I find just about not too sweet – with the blood orange or the lemon [super sharp] Sanpellegrino gave me the perfect flavour profile! Yeah I know Mr Hard To Please likes something haha.

A diet coke mixed with a super-sweet vanilla based e-liquid that I bloody hate gave a very interesting flavour whilst my go to tobacco e-liquid mixed with blackcurrant squash was another that got my taste-buds tingling!

You Just KNOW I Tried It With Alcoholic Drinks!

And yeah whilst this is marketed specifically for soft drinks I have popped Tiger Bitter and even a wee dram of one of my favourite Malt Whiskeys into the tube and well all I can say is…interesting in a good way!

I’m sure my dad and granddad – who were both malt whiskey purists – are looking down on me right now and tut tutting at such a waste of the amber nectar lol.

BTW, of the alcoholic drinks I tried the Contra with a bottle of Rekorderlig rhubarb and lemon cider was absolutely bloody delicious!

Like I said the world’s your oyster and you really will think you’re that Tom Cruise dude in Cocktail

OK Get On With It…How Does It Vape?

Ok serious vape reviewer [huh?] head back on now…the vape quality is actually pretty good if a little on the cooler side of warm – despite the lowish ohm coils – I guess that’s down to how bloody far the vapour has to travel and what it has to travel through!

As to the cloudage…not the greatest and not the worst either…slightly more than an MTL tank and obviously even with higher VG slightly less than your average sub ohm tank…but still acceptable for what this is.

Filling the drinks tube can be a pain in the proverbial but after a few goes the whole thing becomes second nature, though a few times I have had difficulty filling the drinks tank. Smoant suggests using one of those old pipettes – and that is definitely the way to go.

It looks a bit daft and its’ not one you’re really going to carry about or use as your daily beater set up – but take this for what it is – a bit of fun that vapes well enough and definitely a conversation starter!

I’ve found the kit is easy enough to take apart and clean – [especially the drinks tube]and the coil longevity is pretty consistent with similar ones with mine lasting just short of three weeks…not bad at all. And as for leaking – I’ve not add one despite the two liquid chambers!

Pros

  • It does the job
  • Coils last well
  • Great fun!

Cons

  • Not best building materials
  • Feels a bit fragile – don’t drop it!
  • Design is awful
  • Crunchy connections
  • Top heavy
  • Filling drinks tube can be tricky
  • Expensive!

Final Verdict

As with all devices that pass across my desk I begin with an initial reaction or gut feeling and my first impression of the Campbel kit was the same as everyone else’ – WT absolute F !!!

However once I’d gotten over the initial head scratching phase I of course cleared my mind of preconceptions and reviewed this as I do any vape stuff…yeah even Smok kits ha!

And I have to say Smoant may be onto something here – seriously….if they crack the design in any upcoming version 2 I reckon this could become very popular!

For a while I’ve considered doing a ‘best juice with what drink’ article – a bit like the Vaping Bogan does with his beers during reviews. In the past I’ve found certain ales I drink really do either lift of mute certain e-liquids. For instance Contra and Guinness is bloody delicious to say the least as is the Boulevard with any real ale

Look we all kind of do it – a donut flavour with a mug of coffee is bloody awesome for instance.

Smoant has simply taken that pairing idea and run with it.

Sure the Smoant Campbel mod is a little tinny and toy-like in the hand and yeah the connections are a little crunchy and for sure it looks crazy…but it works!

It really does what it says on the Campbel tin and with Christmas coming up I can see this one being a real laugh down the pub and at parties for sure.

Lighten Up Snowflakes!!!

Look whilst we all know vaping is a serious business [mostly] it should also be fun and Smoant has definitely made vaping fun again with this bonkers but brilliant vape kit.

Yeah I know who’da thought this old grumpy old dude would give a thumbs up to something this out there…and there’s me thinking I was a bit on the neophobic scale haha.

Usually in a review if the cons outweigh the pros it means the device is pretty bad…sure there’s more than few niggles but the bigger picture came to the fore for me. The Campbel vapes well enough but more than that it’s both innovative and fun!

Look in all seriousness I wouldn’t call this a souper vape kit [see what I did there?] but I keep coming back to the smile it puts on my grumpy face and definitely the crazy taste concoctions you can come up with – Fun with a capital F!

And for goodness sakes before the keyboard warriors get off on hitting those keys – we’re all adults here and in the vape world – supposedly – and yeah it could I say could be more ammo for the anti vape brigade to bang on about luring in the kiddies with soft drinks. And yeah it was probably irresponsible of me to mention I used alcoholic drinks in the tank – but do you know what?

You can call off the indignant ‘everything offends me’ anti vape brigade – the self appointed vape police and the vaping snowflakes out there – in fact you should all bloody well lighten up or sod off…this is a fun innovative novel vape kit that does the job it was designed for…and I can’t be clearer than that
