Vaping Headlines: Thailand:Vaping Is Hazardous To Health – US Vaping Market Growth – Vaping Twitter Bots Are Dangerous – The End Of Alcohol and Tobacco?

Just a short one this week because even as a singleton alone in my drafty dank and dark crofters cottage with nowt but a stale mince pie and a bottle of 12-Year-Old Malt to toast Jesus’ birthday [other Gods ‘n deities are available] I still have stuff to do…

Like rummaging on the train tracks for coal – pressing my nose against windows to catch a glimpse of happy families having fun – and reading A Christmas Carol nursing a half of bitter – aptly named Reindeer Tears – in the only pub that’s open [in the rough end of town]…

Bah! As you guessed the H in Neil H stands for Humbug – probably

*insert only joking joke here*

BTW if I can get my trusty old typewriter defrosted and oiled there will be a news special this time next week looking back at all that made the Vaping news in 2017 – and it’s been a great year for vaping truth be told!

And hey on a lighter note [sorry if that intro wasn’t as uplifting as you might have expected] Merry Christmas everyone and on with the news lol…

Thai Health Chief Insists E-Cigs Are Dangerous To Your Health

Just a word of caution – be aware that if you are heading to Thailand for a spot of winter sun – you could be jailed if caught vaping – more info HERE.

OK this week the deputy director-general of the country’s Public Health Ministry’s Disease Control Department stated e-cigs are hazardous to health and should NOT be used to quit smoking.

Dr Assadang Ruay-archin has been quoted as saying:

…although some reports say e-cigarettes are less hazardous than ordinary cigarettes, they still risk being the cause of lung, heart and cardiovascular diseases.

Moreover, many reports say that more youths who start the smoking habit with e-cigarettes tend to become addicted to ordinary cigarettes than those who do not begin with e-cigarettes.

E-cigarettes also attribute to the increase in the number of new smokers.

With the country’s politicians and health experts continuing to ignore the wealth of scientific evidence showing them to be wrong – don’t expect the ban to be lifted any time soon.

US Vaping Market To Grow By Over 50%

Global market experts believe sales of vape gear in the US over the next 6 years will more than double.

At the moment the figure is around $18billion but by 2023 that will rise to a staggering $43.15billion.

I guess it’s time to dust off your copies of the movie Wall Street [yes I had the braces] and buy low sell high – or is it the other way round?

Research tells the number crunchers that Heat Not Burn products will play a significant part in the growth of the sector.

Personally I wish they’d stop calling HNB products e-cigs – they are NOT [personal moan over].

…and finally Part 1 – Pro Vaping Tweets Could Be The Work Of Bots

Just when you thought the attacks on vaping couldn’t get anymore bizarre – along comes this little gem from another set of ‘experts’ saying that pro vaping social media bots are damaging our health!

Researchers from the lofty University of Southern California studied over 2 million vape related tweets and say at least half are the work of bots.

As someone who handles some of the EcigClick social media presence I can tell you right now I do indeed have a ‘bot’tom and quite an ample one at that…

Haven’t these scientists got anything better to do like I dunno cure cancer or something – but I digress…

The authors of the 5 month long study pretty much preached and screeched their indignation:

Social bots can pass on health advice that hasn’t been scientifically proven.

The jury is still out on if e-cigarettes are useful smoking cessation tools, but studies have shown that the chemicals in vape juice are harmful.

Scientists are still trying to understand if vaping damages the respiratory and cardiovascular system.

Bottom line: Online falsehoods can influence offline behavior.

We try to keep things reasonably clean on this site [I was thinking along the lines of ‘go forth and multiply…but I won’t] so all I can say about this piffle is and to quote the Bard:

Out of my sight! Thou dost infect mine eyes.

A wee bit of culture for you this Christmas

On a side note I live about 10miles away from Stratford-Upon-Avon and still haven’t visited the Bard’s Birthplace – something I really must do soon…

Source The In A Huff Post – who else lol…

…and finally Part 2 – Enjoy That Alcohol It Might Be Your Last!

Sorry but according to a Brit scientist we will stop drinking alcohol within a generation!

However the goods news is within the same time frame smoking will be replaced by e-cigs – so I guess it ain’t all bad lol…

Booze will be replaced by something called Alcosynth – which sounds a lot like Absinthe which I’m guessing has a much better effect

Apparently this Alcosynth gives all the effects of alcohol without the damage – so maybe there’s something in it…

The aptly named Professor David Nutt told the Daily Telegraph:

In another 10 or 20 years, Western societies won’t drink alcohol except on rare occasions.

Alcosynth will become the preferred drink, in the same way that I can see — almost within a decade now in the Western world — tobacco and cigarettes will disappear as they’re replaced by electronic cigarettes.

So as you sip on your scotch [thanks for my 12 year old Jonny – ummm that could sound bad – I did of course mean 12 year old malt lol] this Christmas or knock back that large brandy on New Years Eve – enjoy because it could be your last!

Though looking at the media reports of so called Mad Friday here in the UK when billions of pounds worth of alcohol was drunk and spewed everywhere – it might take a tad bit more than one generation as far as us Brits are concerned

Although ‘hangover free booze’ might make a nice selling point…

*Shuffles Papers*
