7 Effective Time Management Tips For Busy Bloggers

Blogging can be your job, your passion, and your hobby. However, once you get started, you have to continue working harder and harder for your readers. As a result, you get so involved in your work and end up wishing there was 48 hours in a day instead of 24! This leads you to begin compromising your personal and social life, which is never encouraged.

These are the struggles that most bloggers face every day; lack of time and loads of work! Wondering what the best way to cope is?

Manage your time efficiently and maintain a balance in your personal and professional life.

Today’s post is dedicated to highlighting some useful suggestions that can result in efficient time management for all bloggers out there. Let’s take a look on these simple tips!

1: Set Up a Work Schedule

The first thing you need to do in order to create a balanced life, is to create a work schedule for yourself, this can help you improve your work efficiency. This is especially important when you work from home, designating a particular time span for official work, along with setting aside some time for yourself, is incredibly important.

A normal daily routine might involve waking up, bathing, dressing, having breakfast, reading newspapers/blogs, watching TV or a movie, checking emails and messages etc, but you should always make sure you complete your priorities first.

2: Know What Your Priority is

Once you set a work schedule, take time to write down all the tasks that you need to complete. Start from your top priority, then move to your lowest. A great way to prioritize your tasks is by looking at their level of urgency, completion deadline, page length, etc. By doing this, you can have a clear picture in front of you as to which tasks need to be completed first, and which can be delayed. If a task can be skipped today, then put it last on your list. The basic purpose of creating a priority list is to give more attention to the tasks that need to be completed first.

3: Don’t Lose Your Brilliant Ideas

It’s possible that you may think about your future blog topics around-the-clock. If this is the case, new ideas may come to you at any time, and if you don’t have a safe and reliable place to store these ideas, you could lose them. To avoid a situation like this, it’s smart to jot down your idea on paper or in an app, so you don’t forget anything. You can later decide when, why, and how to use a specific topic. This is where carrying a pocket diary or a journal to capture any unexpected thoughts, ideas, feelings or experiences, is useful.

4: Jot Down an Outline for Your Task

As for every piece of writing, developing outlines/summaries is always a wise decision. This will not only give you guidelines on how to proceed further with your post, but you may also move your points around to maintain coherency (revising an outline is way easier than revising an entire blog post). So, whenever you choose a topic for writing, begin your efforts with an outline. This strategy will help you overcome writer’s block and avoid any double work that could occur.

5: Work With One Task at a Time

When you are working on your blog, other activities are often going on in the background, like social messaging, emails, or video streaming etc. You might think this will help you complete more tasks in the same amount of time but in reality, you are simply distracting yourself. Therefore, you should always try to give your full attention to one task at a time, which will allow you to save time and will also improve the quality of your work.

6: Take Breaks to Freshen Up

Though avoiding distractions is important, not allowing yourself a break is not good practice, since your brain needs time to relax to reduce work pressure. Therefore, try leaving your workplace (even to go get a coffee) at regular intervals so that you can have time to freshen-up your mind. However, be sure to finish a task first, or to stop in a good location, before taking a small break, and before starting a new task.

7: Take Care of Your Meals

If you make a habit of having your meals in front of your computer, or while you sit at your desk, you need to adjust! If you want to stay healthy, take a break (at least 30 minutes) to enjoy your meal and allow for proper digestion. There’s nothing as important as having regular meals at normal intervals. Those who eat while working, tend to make poor food choices, which can definitely lead to future health troubles.

Summary

If you are a blogger, you know how important it is to maintain consistency in your work, but for many, it can be a big challenge since there are various areas to cover such as writing posts regularly, maintaining quality content, discovering the latest trends and responding to readers’ feedback. In order to be a successful blogger, you need to ensure you manage your time between these tasks efficiently.
