the third eye

Shiva’s third eye opens to end all illusion.

Most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be. ~Abraham Lincoln

The summer is just moving right along. June was here and gone in the blink of an eye. I had a great 4th of July weekend visiting with my family in Florida, where the Gulf was soothing and warm. They teased me about being "Little Miss Positive" and my Grandpa said that I am, "luckier than a two peckered dog". Well, I guess I will take that as a compliment, but I personally don't think of myself as lucky so much as I do a firm believer in the power of positive thinking.

Everyone has a vision, for their life and the world they dwell in. I definitely think we Write our own stories, that our mind's eye paints the images from which our lives take shape. I'm surprised how many people seem to write their story in a negative light and limit themselves with pessimistic thoughts. Whether subconsciously or in attempts to be facetious, I hear people calling themselves stupid, fat, clumsy, bad at relationships, bad with money, unlucky, etc...it's ridiculous! If people could hear themselves talk and were more aware of the negative connotations they assign themselves, they would be amazed at the frequency and severity of the words they use. They would be even more amazed to know that their thinking and words are creating that self deprecating existence.  As Bruce Lee said, "As you think, so shall you become".

Not to sound narcissistic, but I really do love myself. And I find that as time passes, that love grows stronger and I become more and more happy and comfortable with myself. I don't allow myself to think or say anything to invalidate me---that's some bad mojo! There are attitudes and faults of mine that I don't care for, so I recognize them and set out to modify them. Becoming more self aware is a task, but it's also a really reassuring way to allow growth and become a more empowered person. That's the great thing about being an individual, you can make changes and be anything you want.

I'm still waiting to choose what course I want to take next, with that chapter still to be determined. The passing of my Dad has caused me to reevaluate some things and relationships in my life, not to mention inheriting some new responsibilities. In the meantime, I refuse to stay idle and try to be as proactive as I can, reaching the smaller goals and continually educating myself with an open, positive mind. I'm putting a lot of energy and thought with my Grandpa, who has an upcoming surgery later this month. He needs all the good vibes that he can get! Health is wealth after all... So, don't sweat the small stuff and make sure you tune your mind to the positive frequency and see where it takes you. It's bound to be a better place than that dark corner of your brain...
