Elon Reeve Musk FRS is a technology entrepreneur, investor, and engineer who holds South African, Canadian, and U.S. citizenship. Elon Musk said on Monday via Twitter that people need to work from around 80 to over 100 hours per week to “change the world.”
Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk said he knows how many hours a week you need to work to change the world, and it’s a large number.
“There are way smooth places to work, but nobody ever changed the world while working 40 hours a week,” he said in a tweet.
“Pain level increases above 80,” he warned.
Musk said in an interview with Recode published in November that he worked 120 hours per week while “everyone” at Tesla worked 100 hours per week at times this year as Tesla ramped up production of its Model 3 sedan.
Tesla employees have told working long hours. Some employees have said the hours are excessive, while some have said they preferred to work 70 or more hours a week.
