Inflatable kayaks are a great way to get out onto the water and have fun with your family, explore waterways, float along a river, etc. They are portable, light, and easy to set up. What’s more, they are affordable as well.

But how much do inflatable kayaks cost in 2021?

The price of an inflatable kayak will be anywhere from $90 to $2,000, depending on its quality, features, and size. The cheapest inflatable kayaks resemble pool toys, while high-end kayaks offer a genuine alternative to hardshell kayaks. They can be rugged enough for Class IV whitewater and ocean paddling.

Here are some of the most popular models to give you an idea of how much you can expect to pay for an inflatable kayak with various features.

Intex Explorer K2

The Explorer K2 (link to my review) is the first Intex IK we will look at. It is an affordable 2-person sit-on kayak constructed from PVC vinyl. It has three separate air chambers and an inflatable I-beam floor. 

It makes use of Boston valves for speedy inflation and deflation.

As evident from the price range and warranty, this kayak is intended for use on small bodies of water, including lakes and calm rivers. It comes with all accessories you’ll need for an epic journey in the water. Tracking is OK with the included skeg installed (and good paddling technique).

Intex Excursion Pro

The Excursion Pro (read my review here) is another beginner kayak made, albeit much better than the Explorer K2 and other cheaper inflatables. Still, it is not as good as more expensive inflatable kayaks with a drop-stitch high-pressure floor. Paddling in mildly aggressive waterways is possible with this kayak, all while resting on a comfortable inflatable seat with an ergonomic backrest and adjustable footrest. The extra accessories make it worth the price.

Sevylor Quickpak k5

The K5 backpack yak (here is my detailed review) is a decent watercraft at a fraction of the price of its competition. It’s a versatile sit-inside inflatable kayak because it is a backpack on its own. 

It also includes everything you’ll need for your kayak trip. It’s pretty durable thanks to the extra cover, but it also makes the boat harder to dry. It has a high-riding position and a spray skirt so you can take on small waves and enjoy exciting times on the water. 

It only sits one person, though.

Sea Eagle 330

The Sea Eagle 330 (review here) is Sea Eagle’s entry-level kayak. It provides decent performance at a reasonably low cost. If you are looking for a kayak under $300, this is the one to go for. 

It’s effortless to set up and comes with everything you’ll need. It’s not as stable as the Explorer line of Sea Eagle kayaks, though, because it sits too high on the water. 

It is surprisingly sturdy for a kayak at this price point, being rated for Class III rapids.

Sevylor Big Basin 3-Person Inflatable Kayak

The Big Basin is a kayak fit for a family of 3, meaning two adults and a child. You can use it on calm lakes or mild whitewater. 

It features adjustable seats for a comfortable ride and sprays covers, so you don’t get wet. And just in case one air chamber is punctured, you’ll have numerous others to help you get out of the water safely.

You need to buy a pump and paddles separately, which will add to the overall cost of the Sevylor Big Basin.

Advanced Elements AdvancedFrame

The AdvancedFrame from Advanced Elements (review link) design combines a folding frame and an inflatable kayak into an advanced performance watercraft. Advanced Elements is good at making kayaks that get close to the tractability of hardshell kayaks and the convenience of inflatables. 

It’s built using durable materials in a triple-layered construction. It fits into a car trunk for easy transportation though not enough legroom for people over 6 feet tall.

Aquaglide Chinook 120 Tandem

The Aquaglide Chinook 120 (click for my review of the kayak) features a 12-foot open bowl that allows for tandem paddling and extra space to sit a child, extra gear, or pet. 

It is designed for exploring mild rivers and flatwater trails. It’s broad and stable and enables easy transitions in and out of the water and boat. 

It comes with several accessories but doesn’t include a pump, paddles, or a personal floatation device.

Itiwit Strenfit X500

The Itiwit X500 is a product of Decathlon. It is a long and narrow, high-performance, fully drop-stitch kayak designed for long-distance excursions in seas, lakes, and mild rivers. 

It’s designed with the help of a naval architect and features extra padded seats and an adjustable footrest for comfort. It only sits one person, though, and is a bit unstable because of its long and narrow shape. 

Also, the package doesn’t include an air pump.

The 393rl sits one person, while the 473rl is the two person version.

Sea Eagle 380x Explorer

The Sea Eagle 380X (read my review here) is a versatile self-bailing kayak for taking on whitewater and flat waters. It features a removable fin for enhanced track-ability in long flatwater expeditions. The design also includes a modular drop stitch floor for rigidity and responsive paddling. This kayak can hold up to 700 pounds and provides everything required for a sea excursion.

Aquaglide Blackfoot Angler 125 HB

The Angler 125HB is a rugged fishing kayak that glides effortlessly into any honey hole on the waterway of your choice. 

It is equipped with built-in fishing rod holders, a high backrest, support straps, an infinite adjustment system, and mesh storage pockets to support your kayak fishing activities.

Advanced Elements Expedition

The Advanced Frame Expedition Elite design (my review) is also a hybrid of inflatable and folding frame kayaks. It uses an advanced bow and stern technology and a drop-stitch high-pressure floor for paddling performance that rivals hard-shells. 

Expect excellent tracking as the kayak slices through waves, making quick work of light choppy waters. You can use the extra space on the 13 feet long frame to store your camping gear.

Advanced Elements Straitedge Angler Pro

Kayak anglers will love this design, it is designed to make a fisherman’s life easy. It features wide beams for maximum stability, inflatable lumbar support to keep you comfortable, and a customizable frame that allows the addition of rod holders and fish finders. 

Its multilayer material, extra abrasion pads, and air chambers ensure durability in aggressive waters.

Sea Eagle FastTrack

The FastTrack series of kayaks from Sea Eagle are state-of-the-art constructions for enhanced performance. They combine a smooth, curved touring shape with a patented NeedleKnife keel and only weigh 35-44lbs. 

Above all, the design sits stably in the water, ensuring you are safe even in class II water.

Sea Eagle Razorlite

The 393rl is another all-drop stitch patented inflatable kayak and the first of its kind. 

It combines a razor-sharp, pointed hard-nose bow and stern with a drop-stitch hull to cut through waves like no other kayak. It’s ultralight and covers up to 6 miles in an hour. 

Advanced Elements Airvolution

The Airvolution is a full drop-stitch advanced performance kayak. You can use it as a recreational or day touring kayak. Its paddling performance gives hardshell kayaks a run for their money.

Furthermore, it includes high-end components such as a high-back seat, ergonomic grab handles, and bungee deck lacing, making it worth the price. Simply take it out, unfold and inflate and you are ready to take on choppy waters.

NRS MaverIK

The MaverIK is a series of inflatable kayaks from NRS. They are suitable for recreation or touring in Class I to II rivers, lakes, and oceans. They are stable, rugged, self-bailing, lightweight, and possess excellent maneuverability while on the water. 

Above all, they carry an incredible 10-year warranty as a testament to their durability. You can buy the Maverik I at $1795 or the Maverik II starting at $1995.

AIRE Lynx

The air lynx is another series of kayaks from NRS. You can buy the Lynx 1 at $1599 or Lynx II at 1695. They are both self-bailing kayaks with durable construction and sleek design to slice through waters with ease. Both are designed for whitewater kayaking; while the Lynx II is a tandem-style kayak, the Lynx I is not. At a price upwards of $1700, the Lynx II is the most expensive tandem style kayak in the market. They both come with an extended warranty cover.
