Mayor Primuth welcomed the crowd in front of Tarot Arts very cool, newly painted window sign and presented Toro and Gibson with a Certificate of Appreciation from the city which read, “Congratulations on the grand opening of your business from the city of South Pasadena. Thank you for your committment to the families of the community and for your mission to foster a deeper connection with the Tarot and to connect them to the cards they love. We wish you continued success with your business.” The proclamation was met with resounding cheers from the supportive crowd. Primuth went on to say that he asked for four adjectives that described their business and he got, “spirituality, creativity, heritage that is progressive, and customer service.” To each, Toro exclaimed “yes!”

“On behalf of the Chamber of Commerce, welcome to the city of South Pasadena,” said Chamber CEO Laurie Wheeler. “We are excited to have you here – we’re here to help, we work with the city to help you with anything you need. And thanks to all of you for coming to support our small businesses. If we didn’t have small businesses, South Pasadena would not be the city that it is, so we thank you for shopping local.”

Erica Nam, from State Representative Anthony Portantino’s office, then stepped forward with a proclamation from Portantino offering his congratulations and relating the message that he looks forward to seeing this new business flourish.

Toro was visibly moved by the turnout telling us he was so surprised by how many people came out to welcome them. “This has been a long journey for us over the course of many years,” said Toro. “We’re very excited to reach this milestone. We couldn’t have done it without our family and friends and we are very grateful.”

Toro and Gibson say they decided to launch Tarot Arts to help foster a deeper connection with the Tarot and connect people with cards they’ll love. They support the authors and artists that help make the Tarot community so vibrant. Their decks are selected, stored, handled and shipped with care.
