SPHS Sports | Tigers Soccer Team Hosts Temple City Wednesday

South Pasadena High’s varsity soccer team came away with a win and a tie last week, leaving the Tigers still unbeaten on the season.

SPHS opened the season early in December with a 2-1 victory over Maranatha before recording a 1-1 tie against Alhambra December 14, followed by a 3-0 victory over Monrovia on January 5 and another tie two days later, this one to La Cañada, 3-3.

Tally it up and the Tigers are 2-0-2 with a home game scheduled for January 12 against Temple City. South Pasadena then travels to Blair on Friday, January 14. Beyond that, the Tigers have six more games on their regular season schedule, winding it on February 4 with a contest at rival San Marino. All games are slated for 3:30 p.m.

In last week’s action against Monrovia, Shota Maekawa scored one goal and captain Tilo Andac twice for the Tigers. In the La Cañada match, Sawyer Fox tallied twice and Maekawa once.

South Pasadena is coached by Juan Zurita with support from assistant Mathewos Ghebrekrsistos.

The team includes: Aidan Kinney, Lucien St. Vaughn, Aidan Ogawa, Charlie Betts, Oscar Cassidy, Tilo Andac, Roddy Foley, Chris Rosales, Jason Liu, Andrew Kowal, Boden Harlowe, Aidan Villasenor, Will Michels, Henry Fogel, Keeran Murray, Declan Swift, Isaiah Kim, Sawyer Fox, Gus Eddy, Shota Maekawa, Eddie Zhou, Bo Donlevy, Grant Huntley and Rafael Shahnazaryan.
