Legacy of the world wide web

Our world is more connected, faster and way more globalised then we want to imagine. Most of us like it, especially the greatness and pleasure which we get from the Internet. So we keep several accounts, registrations, business and other stuff through it.
Of course careful as we are we have secured our laptop, personal computer and other devices with highly secured passwords. Same we have done it with our registration in online shops and others.
Already a great task to remember all by ourselves, you do not think so?

But which burden will be all that for our relatives, which will have to deal with it when we die?
Or who will pay for subscriptions or just deal with that? More likely would be the question who does know all them. Other question can access someone other my email-account?
Sounds as a real legacy out of our new connected world.

As in an earlier article recommended, an emergency folder could help here out. This folder should guide the heir through your estate but also give him guidance to sort out your wishes.
Also it should include important passwords and also a list of your email-accounts and other social media or online shopping accounts. Same counts for regular newspaper or magazine subscriptions.
Via a list of your important passwords or a power of attorney you give your heir / attorney the power to take action also in the Internet. For example to close your accounts.

In that way you make sure that all your business is taken care of and also that your heir can clean your social media and other stuff. Let's do not forget your family has then also the chance to save some important memories and other things.
