There are a lot of things in this world that people will always disagree over.

Does the toilet paper go over or under?

Do you say “pop” or “soda”?

To be or not to be?

Is it pronounced BO-DO-NY or BO-DA-NY ?

When I came up with the name for my new company, I didn’t realize I’d be stamping my ticket onto the great debate train.

Coming up with a business name is a lot like finding the perfect outfit for your first date. You can’t just go with the first garment you try on (what are you a monster?!) No. Instead, you have to put on a dress, try on the shoes, then take it all off and try something else. Repeating the process until the right name whispers in your ear “Pick me.”

Some business owners want a name that’s easy to spell (and pronounce), other’s focus on trying to make it catchy. For me, I needed a name that not only rolled off the tongue, but meant something to me, and incorporated what we do.

Hence Bodoni Blog was born.

Bodoni font was created by Giambattista Bodoni in the late 18th century. Bodoni’s typefaces are classified as modern. When deciding on a name, I wanted to convey that we are a modern way to blog for real estate agents, without actually naming it modern blog. Plus, the .com for modern blog was already taken.

Now here is where things get a little tricky. Bodoni font is pronounced as BO-DO-NY, however, Bodoni Blog is pronounced as BO-DA-NY.

Why must I be so difficult?!

Nothing against the original pronunciation, but as I said before, I needed the name to mean something to me. I’m a sucker for all things sentimental.

My dad’s name is Darnell or Donnie for short. To pay homage to him, I changed the pronunciation to fit his name.

As for the parrot in the logo, I figured I’d stick with the theme of honoring my family. Since may beloved grandmother (dad’s mom) passed away, I decided to incorporate her maiden name (Parrot) to represent my brand.

I’m thrilled with the final result. I was able to create a name that (in my opinion) has a little pizzazz, rolls off the tongue, and makes me smile each time I see it.
