The Plot!
In 2020: Manu Randhawa (Taapsee Pannu) flies from a London hospital. She seeks aid from immigration lawyer Puru Patel to return home to India through the Dunki route, as she’s unable to secure an Indian visa.
Flashback to 1995: Manu and friends Buggu (Vikram Kochhar) and Balli (Anil Grover) dream of migrating to London for a better life. They’re aided by Hardy (Shah Rukh Khan), a former army officer who promises assistance in exchange for a past debt. Their journey, fraught with peril, takes them through Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, and Turkey, ending in London. However, disillusionment awaits as they discover the harsh realities of life as illegal immigrants.
Fast forward to the present: Facing terminal illness, Manu desires to return home. Attempting to do so through deception, they’re ultimately deported back to India. In a poignant moment, Hardy, realizing his love for Manu, proposes just before her demise. Months later, Hardy, Balli, and Buggu reject another chance at the Dunki route, embracing their homeland instead.
