FACE CLONING

   FACE CLONING

Face Cloning was just a concept in previous days but it came into reality now a days. Physical Face Cloning creates personalized animatronic figures based on real individuals with a level of fidelity and realism never before possible.

Numerous research areas from computer graphics, applied mathematics and material sciences are needed for face cloning. The biggest difficulty while producing physical face clone is the different deformation and wrinkles of the facial expression. For overcoming this difficulty researchers at Disney Research, Zurich, ETH Zurich, and Walt Disney Imagineering R&D have developed a new computational face cloning method which would speed up and simplify the process.

This new system not only automatically maps, reconstructs and removes facial hair, but also creates lifelike synthetic skin for animatronic characters. In this method a robotic clone is created based on the facial expression of that person.

The process starts with measuring the elastic properties of a material used to manufacture synthetic soft tissue. As per the measurements, the physics-based simulation is used for predicting the face behavior while it is driven by the fundamental robotic actuation.
Various 3D facial expressions of the human subject are captured with an optical performance capture system. The data is used to make a composition of synthetic skin to best match the human subject. This processing improves the realism of the animatronic face.

Face cloning method is a revolution in the field of science and technology. The techniques and methods used by Walt Disney had made it simpler and easier.
