1. Switch to different internet connection
After clicking on the Retry button around 10 or 15 times I found no success. So I restarted by Windows 10 PC and used a different internet connection to download the latest build. This time I used Wireless network and you won’t believe that Windows 10 started downloading the latest Windows update.

2. Flush the SoftwareDistribution folder
First, you need to open File Explorer and switch to View tab available at the top. Here tick the box next to Hidden items.
After that, head over to the following location in File Explorer to find out the Software Distribution folder:
C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution
Now you need to delete all the folders and files available in the folder.
Note: Not to touch this folder under normal condition. Only delete the files of the folder, if you’re facing issues while trying to download the latest update or you seeing any Windows Update error.
3. Reset the Catroot2 folder
In most of the cases, you can fix Windows update issues by deleting the Catroot2 folder. This folder is located at
C:\Windows\System32\Catroot2
You just need to delete the content of this folder. In case you’re unable to delete the content follow below steps:
Launch the Command Prompt and type following commands one by one:
net stop cryptsvcmd %systemroot%\system32\catroot2.old
md %systemroot%\system32\catroot2.old
xcopy %systemroot%\system32\catroot2 %systemroot%\system32\catroot2.old /s
Now again try to delete the content of the Catroot2 folder. Once done type the following command in Command prompt and hit enter.
net start cryptsvc
Now this will reset the Catroo2 folder and fix all the issues related to Windows Update. Now again try to download the latest build.
3. Run the Windows Update Troubleshooter
One of the most suggested solution to fix Windows Update issue is by running Windows Update Troubleshooter. This will reset all the components related to Windows Update.
4. Automatically Reset Windows Update Agent to default
Reset Windows Update Agent Tool is another handy application that helps you to fix Windows Update problems. Download the tool from TechNet. Run the tool and it will show you different options. You just need to select the appropriate options.
5. In case you’re using Windows Update to download and install the latest build, then you can also use the ISO image to update your Windows 10 PC to latest build.
