Fix: Notification Area Icons Are Not Hiding In Windows 10

Notification area Icons are not hiding in Windows 10? Don’t worry! In this article, you will read the fix to troubleshoot the issue.

Notification area formerly knows as system tray is an area on the left side of the Windows 10 Taskbar. Normally where the icon of Antivirus, Battery, OneDrive, Volume and other sits in the taskbar notification area.

With default settings, you can hide these notification area icons to get rid of clutter. When you hide icons available in the notification area, it goes into the overflow section of the Windows 10 notification area. You can check the following screen to find out overflow section and notification area.

Windows 10 users can easily drag and drop notification area icon to overflow section to make taskbar clutter free. To view these hidden icons in the overflow section, users need to click on the up arrow button available in the notification area.

This is how all it works, but sometimes there is no up-arrow icon available in the Windows 10 taskbar. Even all the icon available in the overflow section will also appear in the notification area. The worst part is that when you drag and drop icon outside the taskbar to hide them, nothing happens. Now this is really annoying, isn’t it?

In case, you’re one out of them who is not able to hide Windows 10 notification area icons, then it is because you have set the taskbar to “Always show all icons in the notification area.” You just need to changes these settings and you will able to hide notification icons.

Here is how it can be done:

Fix: Notification Area Icons Are Not Hiding In Windows 10

3. Here on this page, you need to turn off the option which reads “Always show all icons in the notification area“. When you turn off this option it will hide all the selected notification area icons.
