Alexander was born and raised in what used to be USSR. His granddad, a former soviet colonel, eventually failed to make him a socialist but made sure Al kept a strong interest in hunting, weapons, devices and all things technical.

Al loves heavy metal and movie classics and writes articles for the 1800 blog, of course.
