Method 1. Check for Some Related Services
The related services are Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Locator, Remote Procedure Call (RPC) and DCOM Server Process Launcher. Follow below steps to check for their settings.
Step 1. Press Windows Key + R then type services.msc in run dialog box and click OK.
Step 2. In Services window, look for Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Locator. Then double click it and set the Startup type to Manual.
Step 3. Find service Remote Procedure Call (RPC). Double-click it and ensure the Startup type is Automatic and the status is Started.
Step 4. Find service DCOM Server Process Launcher. Now check if they are set to Automatic and the status is Started.
Step 5. Restart your computer then check “The remote procedure call failed and did not execute” problem has resolved.

Method 2. Open the Photo by using Open with
If you face the error “The remote procedure call failed” when you are trying to open a photo. Try these steps below, then you can open the photos again.
Step 1. Right-click on the photo that you wish to open and click Properties.
Step 2. When Properties dialog box opens, switch to General tab, you select Change button.
Step 3. Choose Windows Photo Viewer then click OK.
Step 4. Back to Properties dialog box, click OK to save changes.
Now you try to open the photo again and check the problem has resolved.
Method 3. Perform a SFC Scan
If you get the following error message “The remote procedure call failed and did not execute” in explorer.exe, I recommended you should to check and fix the corrupted system file because the problem caused could be due to corrupted system file. To do this, follow these steps:
Step 1. Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
Step 2. When the Command Prompt window opens, type the following commands and then press Enter
SFC /scannow
Step 3. Wait until the process has finished then restart your computer.
Method 4. Run the Antivirus Software
