7 Methods To Fix ERR_INTERNET_DISCONNECTED error in Windows 10

Learn how to fix error code ERR_INTERNET_DISCONNECTED on Windows 10 when browsing the web on Google Chrome.

Unable to connect to the Internet. Google Chrome can’t display the webpage because your computer isn’t connected to the Internet.

Google Chrome is a great browser as it is, but that doesn’t mean it has no problems. Today I will discuss with you about Err_internet_disconnected problem in Chrome and how to fix it. Let me explain first What is Err_internet_disconnected error?

What is Err_internet_disconnected error?

  • Err = Browser’s Error
  • Internet = For Connectivity or Network Problem
  • Disconnected? = Which Is Mainly Disconnected

This Error doesn’t allow your browser to pass through and access to any websites. You can face this error on a wide range of devices like Computers, Laptops, Smartphones, and everything which has Google Chrome installed in them. In this tutorial, I have mentioned a number of methods for Windows 10.

How To Fix ERR_INTERNET_DISCONNECTED in Windows 10

Method 1. Check if your Internet connection is working

Before starting to fix this issue, I highly recommend you should check if your Internet connection is working. You just trying to access the Internet from any other device such as your computer or smartphone on your network.

If err_internet_disconnected error occurs only on your computer, it means your Internet connection is working and that the issue is caused by your computer’s network settings. And if the error code shows on all devices, there might be a problem with a network cable, so you need to see if everything is connected properly.

Method 2. Restart Your Internet Devices

Sometimes Err_internet_disconnected error can occur due to your Internet devices, and to get rid of this error you need to unplug your Internet Connections like Modem, Ethernet, LAN, Wireless, etc. and wait for it a few minutes. After 2-3 minutes ON your internet connection, if the issue still persists then go to method 3.

Method 3: Change your LAN settings

Many Windows 10 users reported that modifying Internet Options can overcome this problem on Google Chrome. To do that, follow the steps below:

Step 1. Press Windows Key + R then type inetcpl.cpl then click OK. This will open Internet Properties window.


Step 2. Then, you switch to connections tab and click the LAN settings button.

Step 3. In LAN Settings window, ensure that Automatically detect settings and Use a proxy server for your LAN options are unchecked. Then click OK to save changes.


Step 4. Lastly, restart your Chrome browser and check if err_internet_disconnected error is resolved.

Method 5. Update your network adapter

Sometimes error code: Err_internet_disconnected can appear if your network adapter drivers are improperly installed or aren’t fully compatible with Windows 10. To fix this problem, I suggest you update your drivers.

Step 1. Open Power User Menu by pressing Windows Key + X. Then you select Device Manager from the menu.
Step 2. Once Device Manager occurs, look for your network adapter, right click it and click Update Driver Software…
Step 3. Next, you click Search automatically for updated driver software. Windows 10 will now download and update the best driver for your system.

Method 6. Clear cache and cookies in Google Chrome

Method 7. Configuring TCP/IP networking

Step 1. Open Command Prompt as an Administrator.
Step 2. When Command Prompt window appears, run below command.

netsh int ip set dns
netsh winsock reset

Step 3. Restart your system and check the problem has resolved.

Method 7. Disable your Firewall/Antivirus

In some cases, Firewall and Antivirus tools can block your Internet connection and disallows the computer to connect the Internet. So if you are facing err_internet_disconnected error, you can temporarily disable your firewall and antivirus. If the error is resolved after disabling them, you can switch to a different antivirus tool better.
