Days Without Shopping - Can You Handle It?

It’s not easy to keep your card or your cash inside your pocket when you see new makeup or a great pair of shoes on the shelves. Other people can definitely do it so why can’t you?

Set A Goal
First, set a tangible goal for yourself. What do you want to get out of this ordeal? Think of it as your reward for completing the challenge. Do keep in mind not to Spend all of your 30 day savings though. The money you kept inside your wallet must as much as possible stay inside your wallet! Maybe treat yourself to 10% of the amount you saved?  Be sensible and remain sensible.

What To Spend or Not To Spend
This is where the hard work is. Sometimes, we justify unnecessary spend as “necessary” to get what we want. It’s still cheating. Nobody will know but we are cheating ourselves. A big no-no if your trying to forget old habits and form new ones.

Utility bills, mortgage or rent, insurance premiums, car payments, credit card payments and other essentials, you have to keep paying them. However, let’s say you used to have a budget for clothes every month. Ask yourself, do you really need to buy new clothes every month? Do you really need to be at that hip bar during Saturdays? Think about all the unnecessary expenditures that you are used to spending.

A Little Challenge Doesn’t Hurt
Don’t wait until tomorrow or when you think you’re ready. Just go and do it. You may not be be successful on your first attempt but if you have the intent, you will see results.
Don’t cheat! Tell yourself, it’s just for 30 days. You’ll thank me afterwards.
