Make Your Bathroom Childproof

Unless you are home all the time, you cannot take care of your kid and watch out for their every step.

However, you can do the next best thing, childproof your home. But, most importantly, you will have to take care of the Bathroom, as it could pose the biggest threat and by the time you would be able to react, it could be too serious.

Anti-slip Mats

The tub is a dangerous place if you are not around, and even then if you do not have anti-slip mats installed, your child could hurt itself when the tub or the bathroom floor is wet.

The good side is that they are extremely cheap to get, and even easier to put them to use.

Put the Toilet Seat Down

When you have a kid, and until they can use the Toilet on their own, it is best that you get rid of the risk of them falling in by simply keeping the toilet seat down.

However, kids would not be kids if they did not explore and wonder what everything does. In some cases, you will have to think about some ways to keep the toilet lid down, no matter what.

Keep Chemicals Out of Reach and Sight

Children will love to explore, touch and taste whatever they can get their little hands on, which is why you will have to make sure that everything that is toxic and made up of chemicals is far out of reach, and out of sight.

And even then, be sure to use child lock systems, so that even if your kids become crafty to find the hidden treasure that they are not able to get to them.

But, always tell your kids why they should not play around with dangerous chemicals and cleaning supplies.

Be Careful When Taking a Bath

Unfortunately, children can be very sensitive to hot water, and when taking a bath, you should make sure that you keep the water warm.

This will probably require that you set the water temperature to that of something that is more tolerable.

However, as your kid is growing, you can gradually adjust the temperature back to its normal values. Be sure to be present whenever your kid is taking a bath, in order for them to feel safe, and to help if necessary.

Make Sure no Fixture Is Easily Usable

You will have to review your plumbing fixtures and make sure that you adjust them to have a kind of mechanism to prevent children from accidentally scorching themselves or from flooding the bathroom.

Be sure to go over with a certified plumber how you can make it happen, and what you will need to do.

Moreover, you will have to change some aspects of your commercial plumbing but do it so that when the time is right later on, you can turn everything back to the way it was.

Point out how to be safe in the bathroom for your kid as well, so that they will know what to do if push comes to shove.

To make sure your bathroom is safe and that your kid will not get hurt in any way possible, you will have to go over some basic changes you need to apply in order to make it happen.

However, do not be overprotective as it will not turn out to be good. Give enough room for your kid to explore and to see the world as it is, but make sure that you explain in detail why some parts of the bathroom are off limits.
