Bamboo is also a very versatile material, and because most factories distribute their plywood sheets unfinished, it adds an extra layer of versatility. Unfinished plywood can have its natural color, or it can be carbonized. Whichever the case, the buyer can still add a stain to it to better replicate the desired color. Affordable and more rapidly renewable than solid wood or other construction materials, bamboo, will continue to grow in popularity over the next decades.

Depending on what you’re trying to build, you’re going to need bamboo plywood with different grains and different thicknesses. You can buy the most common 1/4″ thick sheets for approximately $120. 1/2″ thick sheets can set you back anywhere from $125-$175 depending on the grain. If you’re looking to buy thicker sheets used for counter tops and butcher blocks, prices can exceed $300.

Higher prices don’t always mean higher quality. If you’re trying to buy bamboo plywood and it seems to be too expensive, you should check the seller. Paying extra for the brand won’t do you any good.
