First illegal migrants to be deported from the UK in handcuffs

The first illegal migrants set to be deported from the United Kingdom to Rwanda have been detained after a Home Office operation.

The Home Office conducted a series of operations across the country, with more activity planned in the coming weeks. However, the exact number of people detained and their locations have not been disclosed.

In one video, a team of officials from the Home Office’s Immigration Enforcement unit arrived at a terraced house and detained a man.

Another sequence showed officers leaving another terraced house with a bearded young man who was handcuffed and placed in a van. The faces of both men were obscured in the videos.

The Safety of Rwanda Act recently became law, paving the way for the UK government’s plan to send migrants to Rwanda by July.

Illegal Migrants

Home Secretary James Cleverly emphasized that the Rwanda partnership is a pioneering response to the global challenge of Illegal migration.

The goal is to swiftly detain those who have no right to be in the UK and facilitate flights to Rwanda in the next nine to eleven weeks.

This operation is part of an effort to address the ongoing migrant crisis and disrupt the business model of people smuggling gangs.

The situation remains complex, but the UK government is committed to operationalizing this policy and stopping illegal migration via the Channel route.
