White House Calls for Net Zero Carbon Emissions In The Latest Crypto Report

Recently, the White House released a report that details how crypto mining and other technologies contribute directly to pollution, greenhouse gas effect, noise, and other hazardous environmental effects that get in the way of federal agency’s initiatives to attain a net-zero carbon emission that is in adherence to U.S. climate goals.

The last month saw electricity usage quadruple, or a total of 180kph to 220kph per year. BTC mining has also increased in America, from 3.5% in 2020 up to 38% today.

This White House Office of Science and Technology report was created in response specifically to an executive order of United States President Joe Biden. The report questions and challenges crypto assets and technologies’ direct relationship to issues around climate change and energy in America.

Additionally, crypto mining companies and the Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Energy (DOE), as well as other environmental protection agencies, should work together to develop processes and technologies that reduce undesirable pollution and other negative economic and environmental consequences caused by cryptomining.

The White House report also included additional recommendations, including obtaining the personal information from electric utilities and crypto-miners, and ensuring that renewable and reliable energy sources are used to help federal authorities make informed decisions about the climactic impacts of cryptocurrencies.

White House: Make Crypto Greener, Or Else… Despite the support of crypto communities promoting bitcoin mining as safe for the environment, White House officials aren’t convinced as over 100 million storage devices will be plugged to the grid come 2040 which could be a nuisance for a country that is in the process of shifting towards the use of 100% renewable energy.

The EPA was given the task of improving the energy grid to support the demand for cleaner energy in the future, which will help protect the country against harsh climate change and pollution.

The White House stands firm to make crypto greener or more climate-friendly — or else it will ban it altogether.
