Please take a minute to send an email today to Governor Wolf calling for him to VETO the PA Legislature’s atrocious LNG Task Force bill.
The fracking industry, fronted by their supporters in the PA Legislature, are shamelessly pushing their desire for a new market for Fracked Gas. HB2458 targets Philadelphia and southeast PA in the Delaware River Watershed as a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export hub. They want to induce more fracking in the Marcellus Shale and export liquid methane overseas, regardless of the environmental and public health harms that will result and the fact that more methane releases will worsen the climate crisis.
They ignore the plain truth that exporting LNG from our region will not replace Russian gas in Europe – it will be neither timely, affordable, nor necessary. Europe is rapidly moving to eliminate imported energy altogether and develop renewable, sustainable non-fossil energy sources that they control.
