Blue hydrogen and carbon capture are the oil and gas industry’s latest “silver bullet” solutions to economic stagnation and rising carbon emissions in Pennsylvania’s natural gas counties. But are these technologies really worth the hype? A review of Ohio River Valley Institute research shows that plans to deploy carbon capture technology as part of a regional blue hydrogen ‘hub’ are technically flawed and economically absurd. Data show the best, most cost-effective way to curb emissions, grow jobs, and secure a safer, healthier, more prosperous future is to join in the transition to clean energy.
