New Citroen e-C4 offers 217miles of range in a distinctive package

During a wholly online reveal the all-new, all Electric  Citroen e-C4 was launched to an expectant sea of journalists.  Focussing on technology and design to create car that hopes to live up to the Citroen legend.

Over the last 5 years Citroen have repositioned themselves to provide innovative, comfortable and affordable cars.  This move has seen a 30% growth in sales.  The next step for the brand is “electric for all” with a promise of the pricing, as yet unknown, will be closer to petrol and diesel models than we have previously seen.

Bold lines and an SUV stance with a coupe-like roof-line will make the new model stand out

The new e-C4 has a striking muscular design with a higher bonnet line, raised ride height and a coupe-like roofline, with a nod to the 1970s GS. Designers were keen to point out the comfort of the car, so don’t expect a sporty drive as the brand aims for the new model to “the most comfortable car in the market”.

Sitting on the CMP platform enables Citroen to offer different power trains and class-leading interior space for passengers. When inside expect to enjoy space and light with just the right amount of chrome and high gloss materials.  Boot space is generous with 380 litres with a two-level boot floor to create a flat loading area that can expand to 1250 litres.

Space and comfort are the key focus of the new model

Power comes from 100kw/136hp electric motor coupled to a 50kwh battery, the same as found in the DS, Peugeot and Vauxhall siblings.

This efficient combination offers up to 217miles of range.  Citroen bosses were asked why they were not offering a plug-in hybrid model and replied they don’t see how a plug-in hybrid fits in this segment and if they can make a pure electric car then they should.

The new e-C4 will offer optional 11kw home charging, with 7kw as standard, with rapid charging of up to 100kw possible as standard.

The new model will hit the roads towards the end of 2020, with pricing revealed closer to the time.
