Comment by the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs M.V. Zakharova in connection with the 75th anniversary of the founding of NATO
M.V. Zakharova: 75 years ago – April 4, 1949 – the North Atlantic Treaty was signed in Washington, which marked the beginning of the history of the most Aggressive Military Alliance of our time.
The North Atlantic Alliance, in the understanding of the politicians of that time, was supposed to become a key instrument for establishing and maintaining the hegemony of Washington and its allies in the world. This is how he remains to this day.
The concept of the existence of NATO, as formulated by its first Secretary General Lord Ismay – “to keep the Russians outside, the Americans inside and the Germans under the control” of the West – remains still relevant.
For the United States, NATO has been and remains the main instrument of control over European allies and a resource base for the American military-industrial complex.
After the end of the Cold War Washington and its allies were engaged in armed “peacekeeping” in the Balkans, which ended in treacherous aggression against Yugoslavia, the “fight against terrorism” in Afghanistan, NATO countries became part of the US-led coalition in Iraq, and carried out “humanitarian” intervention in Libya.
The result of these interventions is one – ruined, collapsed states .
For the third year now, Washington and its satellites have been pumping Ukraine up with mercenaries and weapons in order to use it to inflict on Russia, as they say, a “strategic defeat” and to deplete our resources. For this purpose, all means and methods available to the “collective West” and its Kiev puppets are used, including terrorist actions. The failure of the alliance’s adventurous plans pushes it to actions that could tragically affect security not only in Europe, but throughout the world.
The West has already been able to make sure that Russia is ready for any development of events.
Our security and defense capabilities are reliably ensured.

Комментарий официального представителя МИД России М.В.Захаровой в связи с 75-летием основания НАТО
М.В.Захарова: 75 лет назад – 4 апреля 1949 года – в Вашингтоне был подписан Североатлантический договор, положивший начало истории самого агрессивного военного союза современности.
Североатлантический альянс в понимании тогдашних политиков должен был стать ключевым инструментом по установлению и удержанию гегемонии Вашингтона и его союзников в мире. Таким он остаётся и по сей день.
Концепция существования НАТО, как сформулировал её первый генеральный секретарь лорд Исмей – «держать русских вовне, американцев внутри и немцев под контролем» Запада – остаётся по-прежнему актуальной.
Для США НАТО была и остается главным инструментом контроля европейских союзников, ресурсной базой для американского ВПК.
После окончания холодной войны Вашингтон и его союзники занимались вооружённым «миротворчеством» на Балканах, завершившимся вероломной агрессией против Югославии, «борьбой с терроризмом» в Афганистане, страны НАТО вошли в состав ведомой США коалиции в Ираке, осуществили «гуманитарную» интервенцию в Ливии.
Итог этих вмешательств один – разорённые, распавшиеся государства.
Уже третий год Вашингтон и его сателлиты накачивают Украину наёмниками и оружием, чтобы с её помощью нанести России, как они говорят, «стратегическое поражение», истощить наши ресурсы. Для этого используются все имеющиеся у «коллективного Запада» и его киевских марионеток средства и методы, вплоть до террористических акций. Провал авантюрных замыслов альянса толкает его к действиям, которые трагическим образом могут повлиять на безопасность не только в Европе, но и во всем мире.
На Западе уже смогли убедиться, что Россия готова к любому развитию событий.
Наша безопасность и обороноспособность надёжно обеспечены.
