ROAD WORK ALERTS: SDOT will be working on the curb ramps at the Dumar/Orchard Street intersection and states, “This work will include pouring concrete and paving the road in front of the curb ramp.” Also, WSDOT continues south on I-5 lane closures for expansion joint work.

FREE PRENATAL TRAINING: Waiting? You are invited to a free FIT4BABY prenatal fitness class followed by a Q&A with a physiotherapist, 9 a.m. to Alki Statue of Liberty (61st/Alki).

QIGONG AND MEDITATION IN THE PARK: 9:30 a.m. in the north Lincoln Park (8011 Fauntleroy Way SW), explained in our timetable listing. By donation (raising funds for Puget Soundkeeper Alliance).

DANCE-A-THON FOR SOLES4SOULS: Also a fundraiser – 10 a.m. to Studio Move2Center (3618 SW Alaska) – or online! – enjoy free dance training for your donation to the global non-profit association Soles4Souls.

SOUTH DELRIDGE FARMERS MARKET: Bi-monthly market focusing on food grown and made by BIPOC farmers and entrepreneurs, 10am-2pm at academy of hope (9421 18th SW).

ADMIRAL’S LANE CLEANING: 10 a.m., meet at Belvidere Park (3600 SW Admiral Way) and participate in a community cleanup.

ALKI BEACH CLEANING: 10 a.m. meet at Alki Bathhouse to participate in this beach cleanup sponsored by Corona, United by Blue and Oceanic Global.

FREE SHREDDING AND FOOD COLLECTION: 10am-1pm in the alley behind 3727 California SW, Motion Mortgage invites you to bring your tear-offs as well as a donation of non-perishable food.

LITTLE LEAGUE ALL-STAR TOURNAMENT: West Seattle Little LeagueBaseball and softball stars begin the competition with the 12s Baseball Tournament that WSLL hosts in S-bar (64th and Admiral), first parts at 10 a.m., reception of the public.

MORNING MUSIC: Marco de Carvalho and his friends, 10:30 a.m.-noon at C&P Coffee Company (5612 California SW; WSB sponsor).

WHITE CENTER TASTE: 11am-4pm, visit the restaurants of the White Center and help the White Center Food Bank by purchasing $5 tickets, each of which nets you a special food or drink at participating establishments – details in our calendar listing, including where to get your ticket(s).

THE PADDING POOL SEASON STARTS: The first municipal Park wading pool to open for the season is located in the upper part of the center Lincoln Park (8011 Fauntleroy Way SW), noon-7 p.m. daily until Labor Day (weather permitting).

COLMAN POOL 7 DAYS A WEEK SEASON BEGINS: From today until Labor Day, it’s daily operations (except for a few swim dates in July) for the outdoor pool on the Lincoln Park shore (8011 Fauntleroy Way SW), noon to 7 p.m.

VIETNAMESE CULTURAL CENTER: Open to visitors from noon to 3 p.m. as listed here. (2234 SW Orchard)

WOODEN HOUSE MUSEUM: The Seattle Southwest Historical Society The museum is open on Alki, and you can visit it from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. (61st/Stevens)

LANDING OF THE SEAFAIR PIRATES: Meet at Alki Beach (usually around the Bathhouse, 60th/Alki) to welcome the ambassadors of summer shenanigans. The landing – “reduced” compared to the festival events of years past – is scheduled for around 1 to 1:30 p.m., but this time is always approximate.

HIGHLAND PARKS IMPROVEMENT CLUB RESET FESTIVAL: On the occasion of the first anniversary of the fire which ravaged Highland Park Improvement Clubof the building, HPIC invites you nearby Riverview Playground (7226 12th SW) as they look down the road (literally and figuratively) to a new building. Music, food trucks, beer garden… and we recommend being there at 2 p.m. sharp for the “famous musicians” who start the performances.

WEST SEATTLE ACTION ACTIVISM SHOW: 3 p.m. to C&P Coffee Company (5612 California SW; WSB sponsor), representatives from more than 10 activist groups explain how you can make a difference.
