Many paintings and images or the Blessed Mother Mary are worthy of appreciation. They illicit admiration, awe and devotion. They themselves are art pieces which are sometimes priceless.

On the other hand, much that these beautiful images attract a lot of devotion, lighted candles and even equally beautiful flowers and since they command religious appreciation on the part of the devotee, they could fail to invite many to imitate the the life and virtues of Mary.

We need to remember that Mary has been presented by the church as the first disciple of Jesus, in fact the first fruit of salvation who is supposed to be imitated by all those who love Jesus, her Son. Jesus through Mary is an old adage having its truth and force. Of course there could be many attempts to make these images like the statuette explained below for example, not so much to sculpt Mary with photographic tridimensional figures but it attempts to present Mary as a model to be imitated. It is more realistically symbolic and not a bland imitation of the person.
