Are Filipinos worth dying for or they really are worth killing for

Why would the so called RH Bill or Reproductive Health Act (S.B. no. 2865) not include in its Policies the right of the unborn?  The Philippines constitution states in its article II Section 12 that the

“The State Recognizes the sanctity of family life and shall protect and strengthen the family as a basic autonomous social institution. It shall equally protect the life of the mother and the life of the unborn from conception. The natural and primary right and duty of parents in the rearing of the youth for civic efficiency and the development of moral character shall receive the support of the Government.”

For the Filipinos and it has always been the cry that the life of the family and of the individual persons are sacred.  We know this.  This alone could remove all the rationalizations of its Proponents.   The end does not justify the means.  The means purported is contraception which is against natural and moral law.  So it is not surprising that its proponents would deny if not ignore, the origin of these laws.

In the said Bill: Section 2 states that:

“The state recognizes and guarantees the Human Rights of all persons including their right to equality and non-discrimination of these rights, . . .”

What is the most basicd human right is not the right to lire?  If the propopents agree to this they, in all their wisdom include the provision from the Philippine Constitution, or they could have another agenda in mind.  Much is said about the Millennium Agenda, but let us just focus on this very simple – not simplistic – and basic right.

It has been discussed that life begins at fertilization.  Well, even our experts of the constitution would affirm that the word and the meanin is conception.  Understandably proponents would say, contraception is not against life.  It was already discussed that contraceptives pills make it impossible for a zygote, which is already a conceived life, to implant itself to the uterus, by changing the hormonal patters and make the uterus welcoming to the new life.

Someone aptly said, that zygote is not “dugo” only it is “tao”.  That is why when one conceives, she is said to be: “Nagdadalang tao” not “nagdadalang dugo”

We understand the good intentions of its proponents but the dissenting voicese could not be stopped Even if it is approved in the lower house, there is still a long way to go,  There are already promising dissent in the Senate and voices were expressed that others will go to the Supreme Court to the effect that it could be declared unconstitutional.

Of course one could understand that United Nations are encouraging this bill with enormous amount of money promised should it be passed.  This could be used for other pressing priorities, like flood control which would eventually save Manila from disappearing in the map.

We are an independent country with our own laws called the constitution.

The concept of human rights for the UN includes abortion and therefore contraception.  Be it as it may, we are still a sovereign nation.  We are Filipinos and we love our contry men, born or unborn. We also love the mothers and those who are poor.

Could someone be intelligent and realistic enough?  Wasted time, efforts and money have been spent.  As a Filipino religious leader quipped:  Is the Filipino Worth Dying for? Or Filipinos really Worth Killing for?
