What happened in the Senate invites me to pray and fast for my Country

While taking a tricycle ride from Kalibo airport after midnight to the parish less than ten kilometer away, the driver kept on honking his horn. I asked why, there’s nobody on the road. He said: “There are spirits here of children killed by accidents. Sometimes they cry for revenge. That is why I blow my horn to show my respect for them to avoid a freak accident. Many of them are innocent.”

Many are also innocent killed in this war on drugs. We know this inside us, that killing not by accident, is Evil. Extra judicial killing and even intrajudicial one, is evil. Many could be apathetic since it has not yet reached their family, friends or relatives. But we think of them and even evoke God mercy for the killers and the killed. Vengeance is not the solution. Not killing but healing. Healing and justice needs facts and the truth.

In these days, an obvious conspiracy has shown its ugly horn to cover up the truth. You could perhaps already sensed that, deep inside. Meanwhile, lives are being sacrificed for the god of money and power like any offering for the gods.

The drug war is being used by our Government to continue its power and kept increasing the budget from our taxes! Time on this terrible war is hinted to be extended and extendible. In doing so, there will be more collateral damage and killings, not of animals but human beings even though our president consider them as animals. They are not Mr. President! Since you are our president and we could only pray more.

There are changes in the senate. The one who became to be the chairman of justice proposed some time ago, the suspension for Habeat Corpus, to accelerate the drug war and give more power to this evil and facility to kill. I join my voice to those why cry against EJK.

A government is supposed to protect and preserve the lives of its citizens not to eliminate it. Human life has an absolute value. It could not be considered as a means to any end. The life of any man, woman and child is an end in itself, the government and authority is a means, never an end. It was said we, the people should not be afraid our our government, it is rather the government who should be afraid of its people. We coy in fear now, like the people in Davao. We could just be a collateral damage.

We pray for our policemen. Let us know and welcome them as our protectors. Let us invite them to know their identity and mission as our protectors. Their status is also at peril.

Vigilance to continue the EJK investigations are crucial. The truth has to come out. Impunity has created a lot of havoc and continuous to do so.

These days, we could bend our knees in prayer and perhaps do some fasting. Maybe this kind of evil could only be driven away precisely by prayer and fasting. Feel free to join me.
