KEA Kids News: How an upside-down bucket and drumsticks can help beat bullying

Luke Nola & Friends KEA Kids News explores two awesome initiatives improving the lives of Kiwis. In Tauranga, a fuse drumming crew helps kids overcome bullying, while in Auckland, the Kai Collective makes food parcels for needy families. A group of Tauranga kids united by drumming has discovered more than just great beats come from playing together. Fuse drumming – playing the drums on an upturned bucket – has been taking the world by storm. KEA Kids News reporter Josiah Joyce, 11, Ngapuhi, met a Tauranga group of kids called The Hitmen, who say drumming has helped build their confidence back up after being bullied. Watch the video story above to see them in action. We also meet 11-year-old Hector, who is part of Auckland charity Kai Collective. The group collects unwanted food and re-packs it into parcels for needy families, and they’ve been flat out since the Covid-19 lockdowns.
