It’s commendable what these people are doing but if they are genuine and practice the Islamic faith according to the Qur’an then it appears they are contravening the commands that come from the ‘Qur’an’, that say’s that they should not make friends of Kuffar’s.
Qur’an 4:89
They would have you become Kafirs like them so you will all be the same. Therefore, do not take any of them as friends until they have abandoned their homes to fight for Allah’s cause but if they turn back, find them and kill them wherever they are.
