Responsible Discourse From Republicans Running For President

The Ted Cruz campaign created this lovely photo of President Obama helping patriots turn over their guns because, hey, who doesn't give up their guns to a guy in a kevlar helmet who's all dark and glowering and stuff, right?

This is exactly what inspires people who take up arms against the government:
Just a few hours after the president announced a series of executive actions that change some background check requirements on gun sales and provide funding to enforce existing laws, Ted Cruz put up a link on his website comparing the president to a SWAT team raider, or something.
The image is a photoshop of Obama wearing military-style garb and scowling ominously.
“OBAMA WANTS YOUR GUNS,” reads the page. “SUPPORT THE PROTECTION OF YOUR SECOND AMENDMENT RIGHTS!”
The page also has a form where those concerned about an armed Obama seizing their guns can give Cruz their name and email address.
One minute you have Ted Cruz telling armed men occupying a Federal bird sanctuary to stand down, the next minute he's trying to inspire a whole other bunch of lunatics to take up arms against the government. I guess that's what you do if you weren't born here and need to fleece money from gullible people.

When Mitt Romney lost, they did a post-mortem on the Republican effort to win the presidency. One of the things that came up, over and over again, was a need to move away from being "stupid."

Next year, when they do another post-mortem, the need to move away from "encouraging Armed resistance to Federal laws" is going to come up. They'll learn their lesson from this. You can count on it.

Yeah, I don't think so, either.
