UP Assembly Election 2017 : Roadshow Of PM Modi; Watch Speech Of Modi In Varanasi
The PM Modi on Sunday held a roadshow in the Varanasi, where a large number of BJP supporters descended on the streets of the city. The Varanasi is going to polls on March 8, 2017, which is the last phase of the polls.

While the Bhartiya Janata Party hopes that the PM's roadshow will woo the voters of his Lok Sabha Constituency, the Akhilesh Yadav feels that the show will fail.

Akhilesh Yadav, while addressing rally in Sonebhadra, UP said that "Ek roadshow kiya, wo fail ho gaya..Ek aur karne ja rahe hain, wo bhi fail hoga, phir ek aur karenge...Ab roadshow karte karte kahin aur nikal jayenge..."

The PM Modi first gone to police lines in a special Indian Air Force chopper from airport, many of BJP local leaders greeted PM Modi at the helipad and presented him bouquets.

The prime minister then made his way in a bulletproof car in a convoy to the Pandeypur area to commenced the 5-km roadshow.

The thousands of supporters thronged the route along which the PM Modi went. The supporters, who was carrying BJP flags and shouting 'Jai Shri Ram' and 'Har Har Modi, Ghar Ghar Modi', waved at PM Modi, who acknowledged their greetings and then waved back at them.

In this high profile seat the factors like, consolidation of opposition votes and well-entrenched rival candidates against the BJP's nominees, have come together to make the contests close.

The opposition feels that the multiple public events by PM Modi in the Varanasi besides deployment of a number of union ministers and the top party leaders in the campaigning is the indication of desperation.

Ashok Kumar Upadhyay, professor of political science in Banaras Hindu University also said that BJP is doing excess effort and that the people can feel it, everybody in the party has a role and also the stature. The numerous events by PM Modi also diminishes the Prime Minister's chair.

The BJP had won the three of the five seats that falls in the Varanasi Loksabha constituency in 2012 and this time it has changed two of the three winners.

Neelkanth Tiwari is contesting from the Varanasi South seat replacing seven time MLA Shyamdev Roy Chaudhari. Saurabh Srivastava is contesting from the Varanasi Cantonment taking the baton from his mother Jyotsana Srivastava.

The Shrivastava family has long held the Cantonment constituency and even the Saurabh Srivastava's late father was an MLA before his mother stepped in politics. The changes in this constituency has invited the allegations of the dynasty politics.

Muslims are in substantial numbers in the Varanasi North and have rallied around the SP-Congress candidate and the former MLA Abdul Sambad Ansari. The Ravindra Jaisawal of the BJP had won from this seat by a narrow margin but this time the combined votes of the SP-Congress has made difficult for the BJP.

The aggressive campaign by PM Modi's may help the BJP in the Varanasi, where the BJP faces the big challenges from the Samajwadi Party-Congress alliance.

The BJP has deployed his many of his minister and MP in the UP election for the campaigning and even then the PM Modi is doing numerous events like rally and roadshow, that diminishes the Prime Minister's chair. The PM Modi should do limited events after all he is the Prime Minister of the country.
