Job Description

The Field Maintenance Engineer is typically assigned to work with resource (hardware) readiness, fulfillment & assurance. This is the main element of the Field Maintenance activities in an operations organization i.e. as identified in Ericsson MSTOP.

The Field Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the Operation, Maintenance, stability and availability of Site Services provided by site equipment such as RBS, Node-B, eNode-B , transmission equipment and RAN Core equipment like (BSCs, RNCs and routers) in the region allocated.

Responsibility

·   Acceptance testing for new site introduction, 2G, 3G,4G,5G,MW links, BSCs, RNCs, routers or Transmission Equipment at the Site.

·   Required to be familiar with Fiber Network basic troubleshoot.

·   Able to handle and test session using various testing equipment for different technology equipment.

·   Perform quality checks and regular maintenance to ensure site safety as per Occupational Health and safety laws.

·   Coordinate with other teams within the organization e.g. Front Office, back office, OPT, ELS and Vendors in light of operation requirement.

·   Handle plans for implementation of change requests.

·   Accept assigned WOs from WFM system update and close it on time with proper solution & action taken.

·   Handle the troubleshoot reports, site visit report, and PMR reports according to scope requirement.

·   Produce relevant report for Network Incidences/Outages.

·   Perform preventive maintenance and routine activities such as, health check etc on regular basis

·   Daily Handling Telecom Alarm Clearance according the WFM system schedule.

·   Attend End-to-End test sessions according Network requirement.

·   Proceed for all Types of outages within minimum time and as per Ericsson MTTR.

·   Able to work in emergency situations like bad weather or other climatic disaster and special events like Hajj, Ramadan, Eid Alfitr and Eid AlAdha.

Specific Competence elementsThe following specific competence elements apply to the Field Operations Engineer functional role.

Professional/Technical Competence

·   In depth knowledge of all network resources HW / SW and their characteristics for the applicable work areas RAN Access, RAN Core and Transmission Network or service networks.

·   Good knowledge of the network resource topology for the applicable work areas Core, TXM and Radio.

·   Good knowledge of network implementation / integration processes.

·   Good knowledge of network operations and maintenance routines

·   Good Knowledge with RBS Series of 6xxx Series.

·   Hands on experience with Integration and maintenance of RAN nodes (Digital Units, Basebands), TXM nodes(Minilink-TN,Minilink6xxx),Ran Core Nodes(EVO BSC, EVO RNC, Routers(6xxx series)

General competenciesThe following general non-technical competencies shall be fulfilled by the System Technician functional role

Education·   Have a Engineering / diploma within Telecommunication, Information Technology and Electronics or similar.

·   Have a minimum 3 years of experience in as a Field Operations Technician in a mobile network environment

Language·   Fluent in written and spoken English

·   (Other language)

·   Be able to work independently

·   Be prepared to work on a 24 x 7 recall roster

·   Flexible and responsive to changing work patterns and demands.

·   Able to work as a member of a team and lead junior staff from time to time.

·   Must be able to work to tight time scales.

·   Able to work pro-actively with other vendors and subcontractors

·   Be prepared to be involved in network related emergency handling activities. And able to work on customer network with tight duty schedule for any critical incident / any special occasions / force majored incident.

·   Has good communication approach while coordinating with other parties seeking the best solution to close the failure within MTTR identified time.

·   Reflect the clear company image while dealing with customer, serving the customer network as first priority.
