THE RETURN OF PARENTING

Behold, Children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward. ~ Psalms 127:3

"It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men." Frederick Douglass

During this season one thing I have seen is that families have refocused on being together without all of the busyness of life.  Parents have been returned to their proper place in society, as the head of the home.  For a long time parents were told and conditioned that they could not possibly be capable of being responsible for and actually parenting their children.  Media, books, articles, movies, and television portrayed parents as inept.  Government grabbed onto that message long ago and worked furiously to remove parental rights.  Then came the virus and the lock downs and viola families became a unit again.  Parents rediscovered or learned the joys and yes the difficulty of parenting. Families have refocused on the importance of being together.

Parents have long been led to believe that they were not capable or responsible for educating their children.  The idea of school choice has long been knocked down by those who desire to indoctrinate and control the next generation, it has been insidious.  The public school system has been failing for decades because the state is not in the business of education it is in the business of control.

I read a story the other day the headline was Poll: 40 percent of Americans more likely to home-school, enroll children in virtual schools after lockdown This stood out to me in many ways.  One Parents have realized that our public education system is not capable of educating their children. Two Parents have realized that they are more than capable of educating their own children, the resources are plentiful to do so. Three Parents have discovered that they and they alone are responsible for their children.

One thing that I appreciate about President Trump is he and his cabinet have worked hard to bring about school choice.  The fight for true school choice is an ongoing battle, not because it would hurt children but because it would remove the state's control over our children. Lest anyone say I am anti-teacher, please know that is non-sense.  All of the teachers I know, love their students and work hard but within the public school system they are forced into a one size fit all system and have ZERO say over curriculum. I will also point out that the teachers I know love their students so much that they are parenting them, this is another benefit of the shutdown of the schools, Parents have discovered that they and they alone are the parents and that teachers cannot teach if they are acting as parents too.  Parents have discovered that many of them have not done a great job parenting and that teachers were not being mean to their children at all.

It is past time for true school choice in America.  In our society we use tax dollars to pay for education.  It is time to allow the allotted tax dollars to follow the child.  Parents and parents alone know what type of education system will work best for their children.  If the tax dollars follow the child, then the parents can choose public, private, parochial, charter, online, alternate or home school for their child. There are so many options out there. Our children all learn in different ways, they are each unique and therefore their educational needs are unique.

It is past time to restore Parental Rights in America.  Parents are much more capable than the state to raise and educate their children. Parents are the ones who stand responsible for their children.  I believe that during this lockdown many parents have found joy in the refocusing on building strong families.  Societies that do not have strong family units will crumble.  The next generation matters more than we know.

Today
Pray for the families in your neighborhood.
Pray for new parents in your city.
Pray for the next generation.

God's Promise for Today
These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full. ~John 15:11
