WILL YOUR VOTE COUNT?

Choose for your tribes wise, understanding, and experienced men, and I will appoint them as your heads. ~ Deuteronomy  1:13

Let each citizen remember at the moment he is offering his vote…that he is executing one of the most solemn trusts in human society for which he is accountable to God and his country. ~ Samuel Adams

In America because we are a Representative Republic we have a decentralized Voting system, each State runs its elections and sets Election laws for the State.  Every 4 years when we have the Presidential Election it is not a centralized process, we have 50 different elections run by each State and since we are not a democracy but a representative republic and our Founders were wise the 12th Amendment of the Constitution gives us the Electoral College to ensure that each State is equitably represented in a National Election.

So why I am talking about voting in May well yesterday Speaker Pelosi introduced a 3 Trillion Dollar Monstrosity of a Bill that is supposed to be the next phase of Virus legislation.  It is over 1800 pages and I am slogging through it, if you want to read it and I always believe we should read legislation to see how our employees are spending our money the bill is H.R. 6800. I find it interesting that Speaker Pelosi has had the House on a taxpayer funded vacation for ages but a 1800+ page, 3 Trillion Dollar bill has been introduced.

This bill is illuminating on many levels and I will continue to address issues in it, but today's issue is what this bill purposes to do about elections.  There is $3.6 Billion in Federal Grants for State and other Election Jurisdictions.  So this may sound like a nice thing to do, but the devil as always is in the details.  This bill REQUIRES States to change their election laws and allows citizens to sue election officials if they don't allow things like mail in voting.  It also strips Voter ID laws from the books for States that have Voter ID laws.

Your next question may be what is the problem with Mail In Voting, don't all states have that already? The answer is no, there are 5 States that have legally passed all Mail In Voting for their states.  Those States went through their legislative process to create new voting laws which is how it is done in America because we do not have a one size fits all society.  In person voting states have what is called Absentee ballots, those ballots are mailed in however there is a process that one goes through to receive an absentee ballot, starting with a official request by the registered voter and there is a chain of custody for those ballots from request of  ballot to the counting of the ballot.

Mail in Voting is the process of mailing out ballots to every registered voter then those ballots are mailed in with no chain of custody.  This way is rife with Fraud, not because voters are fraudulent but because States in general do not purge their voter rolls of people who have died, or moved, or lost their right to vote.  When a ballot is mailed to whatever address is on the voter roll there is NO WAY to confirm who is actually turning in that ballot.  This method also assumes the postal service delivers ballots in a timely manner to the voter and then back to the election officials and while I appreciate my awesome mail carrier the post office is not RELIABLE.

Voting laws are made on the State level and there should never be federal legislation that changes that.  States should not be forced in a voting system that the citizens of that state have not agreed to with legislation or ballot initiatives.  Voter ID should never be suspended in States that require it, it is required because the citizens in that State want Voter ID. (I will not debate the pros and cons of Voter ID today.)  If the citizenry of a State want to see a change to voter laws then the citizens of that State can address it. The Federal Government has no place in this process.

Voting is a right of every eligible America Citizen and it should not be trifled with under any circumstance.  While there are many things that make H.R. 6800 a monstrosity these provisions alone make it is a no go.

Today
Continue to Pray for Our Nation

Pray for our elderly in long term facilities many governors did not take steps to protect this most vulnerable population. In fact some Governors took steps that resulted in many deaths of this vulnerable population.  Also this virus has stopped most visitation to many long term facilities so loneliness is a factor and families have been shut out from advocating for their loved ones because they have not been allowed to visit.  Pray for a solution to these important issues.

Pray for all of those who work in our long term care facilities.

Today's Promise

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. ~ John 10:10
