WHEN THE STATE BECOMES THE PARENT

Tell your sons about it, And let your sons tell their sons, And their sons the next generation. ~ Joel 1:3
Give me four years to teach the children and the seed I have sown will never be uprooted. ~ Vladimir Lenin
During this season of shaking, one positive that has come about is that God is using this time to reorder the family to realign with His purpose.  For decades there has been a creep by the elites to remove parental rights.  Parents have been conditioned by the state and the media to believe they were not capable of parenting.  They were told they did not know what was best for their families.  Our children were forced into public schools that stopped teaching and began to indoctrinate, teachers were no longer allowed to actually teach the basics they were hamstrung by government and administrators. Any parent who choose to Homeschool was mocked and shamed. Parents who have advocated for school choice were mocked or ignored.  The state took more and more legal control of our children.
Once school age children were handed over, the experts and government then began to push daycare and pre-k.  The sooner you handed over your children to state control the easier it was to remove parental rights.  Parents have lost the right to make medical decisions for their children, we actually have to pass laws to allow parental notification of abortion, hormone altering drugs or body altering surgery, parents are not able to opt out of state mandated sex ed even for kindergartners, to opt out of assignments they disagree with, parents are told how they must discipline their children.  The list is endless of what rules made by the State that parents must follow, if they don't follow these state mandates the state can remove their child. When you step back and look it is actually horrifying at how little parenting the State allows parents to do. The state is now attempting to use the virus as a reason to strip even more parental rights.  Even playing outside with your child is considered a violation or if you have the virus some states are authorized to remove your children from your custody.
So how did we get here, it goes back to the role the Church abdicated to the government.  Pulpits stopped teaching about parenting children and the importance of the family unit. The pulpit stopped warning about the damage to society from the breakdown of the family unit.  In fact, the church gave over their authority to the state to become the husband to the single mom and the parent to the child.  The church did not address family violence within its membership, they even hid it.  Abuse was not called out nor confronted and it grew throughout society.  Instead of being the voice of morality and virtue it closed itself off and foisted that responsibility onto the state and it now complains about the government not doing a good job.  Our society cannot function as it was created if the church will not take responsibility and do what it is called to do.  Our government was not created to be the church, it is not equipped to operate in that role nor is it called to.
We often talk about the next generation and how important they are. Yet the state has stripped from parents the right to mold and teach their children. It has also become the norm to shame parents who do not walk in lockstep with the world.  Our next generation does not stand a chance if we continue on our present course.  Parents are and have always been the best judges of what is right for their children.  We must return to the place where parents are the ones actually parenting their children without state mandating every single thing.  The church must once again teach morality and virtue and walk alongside families and not just the families inside their own church. We must not be squeamish about calling out abuse in all of its ugly forms and we must walk beside and support those who need healing from abuse.  The abuse cycle is vicious and it does perpetuate itself.  We must focus once again on the family because it is the building block of any society. It is not too late to change course, we have been given another opportunity.
Today
Pray for families and what God is doing in them during this season.
Pray about where you can serve families in your community.
Pray for the spike in child abuse and domestic abuse during this time.  Abuse is a serious evil in our society that we must confront, it cannot be allowed to hide any longer.  If you see actual child abuse or domestic abuse it is imperative that you call authorities. Yes it is your responsibility to get involved.
Blessings,
Mel
