GA Election Workers Settle Defamation Lawsuit

Two Georgia Election Workers, have reached a Settlement in their Defamation Lawsuit, alleging One America News (OAN) spread False Claims that the pair committed Election Fraud.

Terms of the Settlement were Not made Public in the Report, filed on Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, but the Deal removes OAN from the Case, leaving only former Trump Attorney Rudy Giuliani as a Defendant. Wandrea Moss and her mother Ruby Freeman had Sued Giuliani and OAN for promoting Claims the pair had produced Fake Ballots to rig the Election in favor of President Biden.

Moss and Freeman filed the Lawsuit December 2021, saying they had become Victims of dangerous threats and harassment, because of the Unfounded claims as the California-based OAN repeatedly reported that the Election Workers had stored Fake Ballots in a Suitcase to give Biden the Victory.

However, Georgia Election Officials quickly shot back, noting the Suitcases did Not contain Falsified Votes but rather Stored Ballot containers that are routinely used by Election Workers. A State Investigation later found the women Properly and Accurately counted the Ballots.

“As a result of their vital service, Ms. Freeman and Ms. Moss have become the objects of vitriol, threats, and harassment,” the Lawsuit read. “They found themselves in this unenviable position not based on anything they did, but instead because of a campaign of malicious lies designed to accuse them of interfering with a fair and impartial election, which is precisely what each of them swore an oath to protect.”

The Lawsuit sought for the Media coverage to be Removed from OAN’s website, as well as Punitive Damages. It’s unclear whether these Demands were met in the Settlement Deal.

Giuliani issued a 21-page response to the Lawsuit in March, denying the Allegations against him. Although he does Not believe he is Guilty of Defamation, Giuliani’s Attorney acknowledged that he “cannot and will not take the position that his statements that carry accusations of election fraud do not carry defamatory meaning.”

Even after Georgia Officials debunked the Claims of Voter Fraud, OAN and Giuliani continued to push Conspiracy Theories, the Lawsuit argued.

Freeman then said she became a Target of dangerous Threats, revealing she had to close down her Businesses and was told by the FBI Not to return home for months.
